Death By Chocolate Starts 11/27
I'm trying to do stuff that's a little more out of the box lately. Concerts, comedy shows, etc - as opposed to the standard bar hopping that I typically default to. One thing that came across my inbox that looks pretty interesting is an upcoming show called "Death By Chocolate" that starts this week.A company member of Shear Madness, Mike Dorval stars in his one-man show “Death By Chocolate” in a limited holiday weekend run at the Boston Center for the Arts Plaza Black Box Theatre beginnin... Real Estate Licensing Class for $99 - 12/5 & 12/6
This is a really good deal for those of you that are thinking about becoming a real estate agent. I took this same class through the Lee Institute a couple of years ago and paid $250ish. Hodara Real Estate Group (HREG) is seeking to help students and adults alike in the difficult times of the recession. Hodara Real Estate Academy (HREA), a recently-opened branch of the brokerage, is offering its already affordable real estate licensing class for $99, compared to the original cost of $190 per... Excelsior Becomes Bistro du Midi
It was I think roughly nine months ago that Excelsior closed it's doors (here). I haven't had a chance to walk by that area in a while, but according to Daily Candy, it's relaunching as Bistro du Midi.Fuel your Parisian obsession with a stop at Bistro du Midi. The French resto just opened its glass doors in Excelsior’s old haunt. Exposed wood beams, creamy walls, and wrought-iron light fixtures add a rustic vibe.Linger at the downstairs bar (or sweet cafe tables) over a glass of wine (they h... Read Full Story
Rob Guillory In Town This Week - 11/29
I'm not much of a comic book person not from lack of interest, but rather lack of funds. How do kids afford comic books? I'm a grown man with a job and I still find it painful to have to buy that many books to keep up. I'd prefer to spend my $ on beer. =)That being said, I'm unfortunately not familiar with the comic Chew. But for those of you that are, Rob Guillory - the artist for Chew - is going to be in town later this week on 11/29 from 9am – 3pm at the Westford Regency (219 Littleto... Read Full Story
No More Northeastern Football?
According to the Globe, it looks like this may be the end of football at Northeastern. That's rather unfortunate. What they need is some wealthy, eccentric alumnus to swoop in and offer to foot the bill in order to keep football alive.Northeastern University plans to announce today that it is ending its football program after 74 seasons, saying it is unwilling to invest the millions of dollars needed to improve the team to meet the school’s ambitions. President Joseph E. Aoun and the board ... Read Full Story
Joseph Mazzello Joins The Social Network
I haven't heard much lately about filming for the latest Ben Mezrich book to movie adaptation - The Social Network. It's the one about the founding of Facebook that Justin Timberlake is going to be ine. Anyway, Joseph Mazzello just joined the cast. If that name doesn't ring a bell, think back to the original Jurassic Park movie. Remember that little kid, the grandson that was all into dinosaurs? Yup, he's going to be in the movie.Dustin Moskovitz, one of Facebook's co-founders and its hea... Read Full Story
12th Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot - 11/26
Remember last week when Kate Moss made that comment about how nothing tastes as good as being skinny feels? She's wrong. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I can think of lots of things that taste better than being skinny. But then again, I've never been skinny in my life, so I'm not sure how that feels.Oh, so the reason I was thinking about that comment is because the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot is coming up this week and I figure that's a good way to burn a few hundred calori... Apparently "The Box" Is Awful
The Box was filmed in Boston just over two years ago (here). It was one of the first of MANY movies that have subsequently been filmed in our lovely city. Did anyone happen to see it when it came out in theaters a week or two ago? I haven't yet, but apparently the critics hated it.CAMERON DIAZ's new film THE BOX has been voted one of the worst films of all time by moviegoers - just days after its U.S. release. The thriller, based on Richard Matheson' 1970 short story Button, Button, has bee... Downtown Crossing Holiday Market - 11/28
I have to hand it to the folks at the Downtown Crossing Partnership. Couldn't get the vacation time to go to the Dominican Republic to play in David Ortiz's upcoming celebrity golf classic (here)? It's ok, neither could I. But if you'd still like to do something to help the cause, I just found out that there is an online auction going on right now for his charity.David Ortiz is hosting his 2nd Annual Celebrity Golf Classic from December 3-6, 2009 at Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic.
