Stimulus Checks May Be Stimulating Tax Filers

A rather unexpected consequence of the US Federal Government’s Tax Stimulus Package may be that more Americans than ever are filing their taxes on time. Some early polls are suggesting that Americans are filing their tax returns at a 10% higher rate than this time last year. There are some added discussions that these filing increases are largely a result of the tax stimulus package which requires any would be recipients to actually file a tax return. There is a growing body of evidence supporting such an analysis.
