Dear Keith,

I’ll bet, at one time or another, losing weight has been on your list of New Year’s resolutions… Did you make it stick?

Losing weight – and keeping it off – is an obvious challenge. But there’s more to it than choosing the right foods. In many cases, the habits and daily routines causing your problem are much harder to recognize.

In my previous letters I’ve given you simple, easy-to-follow advice for burning fat fast. But here’s the bottom line: If you fall back into old patterns you’ll never make any progress.

If you have trouble breaking old habits, I have a solution I recommend to my patients - and I can tell you it works. I consistently get good results.

Studies show that the tried and tested technique of hypnosis is a surprisingly effective option for weight loss.

For instance:

  • Researchers divided 60 women on diets into two groups. One underwent hypnosis while the other just tried to “stick with it.” The hypnosis group lost an average of 17 pounds. The other group lost an average of only half of a pound.1
  • A “meta-analysis” looked at a number of studies to see if combining hypnosis with weight loss had a positive effect. It revealed that hypnosis increased weight loss by an average of 97%. More importantly, hypnosis helped people keep the weight off after dieting by a whopping 146%. In other words, it not only helps you lose weight—it helps you to stay slender long after you’ve stopped dieting.2

Those are impressive numbers… But many of my patients are skeptical when they first hear about medical hypnosis. I understand their quizzical looks when I bring up the idea, but it’s no longer a controversial technique. In fact, hypnosis is now “mainstream.”

The American Medical Association and the British Medical Association both endorse hypnosis as a proven technique for getting and staying healthy.

Even the prestigious Wall Street Journal published a piece a few years ago that said, “Numerous scientific studies have emerged in recent years showing that the hypnotized mind can exert a real and powerful effect on the body.”3

If you do a little poking around, you’ll see there’s an entire field of research and practice dedicated to finding new ways to use hypnosis to improve your health.

You can find a physician near you who’s familiar with medical hypnosis as a form of therapy. There are also books and CDs that will teach you how to do it on your own.

My favorite is the “hypno-therapy” diet plan called “Enjoying Weight Loss.”

This 8-session program was designed by the world’s leading hypnosis expert, Dr. Roberta Temes. She wrote the definitive text on the subject, The Idiot’s Guide to Hypnosis, and remains the leading authority on hypnosis and weight loss.

I highly recommend it. It works.

To Your Good Health,

Al Sears, MD

P.S.  – Here’s a good story from someone who’s tried the program:

“I am now down 20 pounds and still have not had any problems with stress eating (my lifetime habit is to overeat). I am also walking close to 5,000 steps per day now (a little over 2.5 miles) and into a size 16 from a 20/22 and people are finally beginning to notice. I personally thank you for your program even though I don’t understand how it works. I am starting to like who I see in the mirror.”
