Okay, How Do I Do That?
I went to see the midwives on Friday and it went well. But she did bring up a concern. She’s a little worried about my weight. Not that I’ve gained too much, but that I’ve not gained enough. That’s right boys and girls, my doctor wants me to GAIN weight. Now she said Sarah is doing well and growing and there’s a good chance I may weigh less after the pregnancy than I did when I started out, which was a bit comforting. I’m not entirely sure how much I weighed when I got pregnant, but at a... Read Full Story
Real Parents Say Fuck
Unless you live in a Leave it to Beaver world that only exists in your head you have probably said “Fuck” in front of your children. You have probably said worse than that and gone through George Carlin’s entire list at one point in time. Oh there are those who never say, “Fuck”, much less do it. For them, Gee, Golly, Gosh, Darn and fudge are strong enough curse words and they fucking well say them too. I am not advocating you teach your aspiring infant to say motherfucker, much less... Unemployment at 4-year high
Unemployment rate hits 4-year high as job losses continue - Aug. 1, 2008 NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — Employers cut jobs in July for the seventh straight month, while the unemployment rate hit a four-year high, according to a government report released Friday. This is not surprising at all.  Locally I have seen way too many retail and fast food businesses going under.  Part of this has been do to the rapid expansion in these areas and keeping them understaffed while overworking the few... Links From The Unexpected
I was going through my Woopra stats not so long back when i noticed something very exciting and very unexpected.  My political blog, Brad’s Tiny World, was receiving a lot of traffic from CNN and within a few days of watching that incoming traffic I started noticing them coming from The Wall Street Journal.  When tracking down this traffic I found it had come in the form of a sweet little plugin I had accidentally left on when I was testing what did and didn’t work with the new theme tools... Worse Housing Crisis Looms
NEW YORK - Home prices tumbled by the steepest rate ever in May, according to a closely watched housing index released Tuesday, as the housing slump deepened nationwide.  The Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller 20-city index dropped by 15.8 percent in May compared with a year ago, a record decline since its inception in 2000. The 10-city index plunged 16.9 percent, its biggest decline in its 21-year history. I predicted this time would come back in about 2003.  I saw the signs of a looming... Read Full Story

The Point of Prison
The point of prison isn’t to find out why they call it the pokey.  Susan Atkins, a former Manson Family member, is wasting away in prison with cancer, amputations, and generally at death’s door step.  She applied for parole because of these conditions and was flatly denied.  This was as much a political decision as anything, simply because of how famous her crimes were.  This however violates professional ethics, common sense, and probably good economic policy. The point of prison is not to... Read Full Story
