A Letter to Friends...Only the Good Fridays
For Only the Good Fridays
Our son with his beautiful and graduating daughter!

Dear Friends,
We have been home here in the Northwest for a month (or is it more?). Time flies you know. We don't do that much every day but the time does seem to go by quickly. We miss you all at about 4 p.m. when we sit down for a glass of wine...just the two of us. We should have the neighbors in soon but you all know how it is!
We are enjoying being home and even went on a winery tour on Memorial Day weekend. The countryside just takes our breath away.
I have spent a couple of days taking care of Brayden and that gives me something to talk about for several days. He is just such a cutie. No prejudice here.
Our grandchildren have started graduating here and there. Alexis graduated from middle school, Elena's class had a little promotion ceremony and the school sent her on her way to middle school.
The oldest, Alysia, went through her high school ceremony last night and we were able to attend. With a class of 600 students and an auditorium that hold 4200 people, those with large families don't get nearly enough tickets. The number of students as well as the massive crowd of family members that attended over whelmed me. Six hundred young people filling an entire gym floor and all I could think was "what will they do?" All those young men and woman were dependent, non-working individuals one day and expected to figure their lives out the next. My goodness! Many were on their way to college, some will join the service but I suppose that the majority will seek jobs or work at a trade of one sort or another. Bang! There they are.
The seniors at Westview High had a very simple ceremony. The principal and two student speakers from the 2009 spoke. Each student actually had his/her name called and they walked across the stage. As we looked at the mass of young people it just seemed impossible that they would be able to do that.
The world of technology was all around us.
The choir sang "The Irish Prayer", a tradition at this school. Even at the concerts, the alumni are invited at the end of every performance to come onto the stage and sing with the current choir. It is very moving.
I have visited the nurseries and my daughter and I have planted a small garden. The tomatoes are setting on, peppers are growing like weeds and an eggplant may even have some vegetables before long. I am so excited about the basil and dill for my salads and I will probably use those more than anything.
The renovation on our condo is nearly completed and we can now sit on out on the porches and I have put out a few flowers. When we arrived home, plastic covered several windows and our sliding glass doors where blocked so we could not open them. Talk about claustrophobia! They had removed window to fix water leaks while we were gone. Dust covered everything. I am so glad that it is almost over. Luckily we were gone for the worst of it.
Earl is golfing as much as he can...a member guest tournament has his attention right now.
The weather is perfect...overcast but in the 70's.
I just do as little as possible. School will be out on Wednesday, our oldest son flies in on Wednesday, my youngest son flew out this afternoon for a education meeting in Kansas City, my daughter leaves tomorrow for Washington DC and our son-in-law will be taking our RV to a camp for search and rescue training. We live at the center of the storm here...the quietest part you know. But we are entertained by the coming and going. I will begin going to my daughters how next Thursday I suppose. And so it goes.
I still write daily on one blog or another. Things interest me so I research and write. It is good for my brain I suppose.
I hear our flowers in front of the park model are doing fine...Jack wrote to give us an update. You know I miss "The Waiting Room" RV Park a lot. But I also know it is not the same without all of you. This is where we belong in the summer! I am feeling very content this summer. And that, my friends, is a very good thing! Take care!
Pat, I appreciated the update from you. I do think summer will be here one day soon...maybe.
