For my first blog entry I thought I’d share one of my first memories of coming to Binghamton. I remember back in the summer when I found out that I’d be living in College in the Woods, I looked up some of the events that went on there and saw that every year they hold a competition between the five buildings of the community. I didn’t think I could get even more excited for college, but this did the trick. Each of the five building all got together wearing their respective t-shirts... Read Full Story

Hey Everyone,
I’m sure some of you are wondering, what is an RA and what do they actually do? An RA is a Resident Assistant, which is like the big brother or sister on your floor. They are there to enforce policy but also to serve as a resource and a friend. We put on events for our floor or building to bring fun into the residential communities.
So far this semester I have hosted an Alumni Panel in which Binghamton University alumni came to my event to talk to students about life after... Read Full Story

Excuse me while you serve as my excuse to procrastinate for a while.
But I guess it’s kind of rude of me to use you without you knowing who I am, so I guess we can do that one right now.
My name is Carmen Rey, I’m in my Junior year at Binghamton but I think I’m the furthest away from being like every other Junior here on campus. I’m a transfer student. Sure, that doesn’t make me all that different, but can I explain more before you start to tell me “Oh, you’re not that different from my... Read Full Story

It seems like just yesterday I was in my senior year of high school reading Binghamton’s admissions blog; and now I’m a blogger myself!
Hey everyone, my name is Michael Genito and I’m currently a sophomore here @ Binghamton! I hail from the seemingly unknown republic of Suffern, New York (in Rockland County). Since many people seem confused by Rockland’s geographical location, it’s about 30 miles north of NYC, and right next to Westchester County over the Hudson River. Anyway, I’m currently... Hello everyone!
My name is Michaelangelo Misseri and here’s a little bit about my experiences as a Binghamton University student thus far!
The moment I got to Binghamton my freshmen year, I knew this was the school for me. I felt at ease the moment I got on-campus and have never regretting enrolling here. Binghamton University quickly became my home. Since that first day, so much has changes, in all aspects of my life. I’ve found who I am as a person and have grown tremendously, finally... Happy (early) July 4th! Although it obviously isn’t the fourth yet, I’ll probably be busy the entire day tomorrow, so I figured it would be probably be best to post now. As tomorrow is a American holiday, all consulate employees have the day off, even though everyone else in Germany has a regular work day. In terms of work, everything is going great and there’s always something new to do and nearly no day is the same. I really do like it. During my days off and the weekend, I have done a... What a whirlwind 3.5 weeks it has been! I finished up my finals at Boğaziçi University, got everything sorted in terms of staying at Boğaziçi for the fall semester (it looked like I could have had issues with my student visa but everything worked out!), said goodbye to my exchange friends, and bought a ticket on a (kind of) whim and flew home! I am here for a month before I return to Istanbul on July 9 then take off again 2 days later for my internship in Senegal. I will be interning at an... Read Full Story

Hey everyone!
Today I will discussing something that’s particularly relevant for most college students: summer internships. As college students, we have a summer break that is typically pretty long. After finals week ends during the third week of May, school will not start again until the end of August. What’s a person to do during that time? If you have the free time, a summer internship is often the perfect solution to a summer potentially filled with boredom and/or an incessant amount of... Read Full Story

Get excited! If you’re one of the lucky applicants to Binghamton University who received an acceptance letter you are invited to attend Binghamton University Accepted Students Day. The first one of the Spring semester was held yesterday and included a welcome by Baxter the bearcat, performances by our award winning a capella groups, and all-day student tabling for potential fall students to see how they can become involved on campus.
The day is divided into School-specific information... Read Full Story

Turkish food is yummy My favorite part of Turkish cuisine is Turkish breakfast. A traditional Turkish breakfast includes various sorts of cheese (beyaz peynir, or white cheese, is my favorite), fresh cucumbers and tomatoes, olives, various sorts of jams, ekmek (bread, which is an essential part of all Turkish meals), and çay (tea). You can also have eggs with sucuk, Turkish sausage, and other yummy foods as well. I do not always have time to prepare a full of Turkish breakfast, especialy on... Read Full Story
