Report of boat in distress unfounded
A report that a person saw a distress signal in lake off of Bryn Mawr Avenue tonight sent the Chicago Police Marine Unit searching the area, but no trouble was found. The person said they saw what appeared to be a distress flare or signal light about 9 p.m., so as a precaution the Marine Unit sent a boat to search the area, said Officer John Mirabelli of Police News Affairs.
