Well, well, well. There is a lot going on this week. We are all going on vacation this week. Paula, Angie, Jonathan and I are going to Florida on Thursday for a week and John and Chris are home alone and left to their own devices for a week. Oh boy! I can't even imagine the temptation that awaits in Disney World. How to resist? I don't even know. Chris and John will be home alone for a week. I'm pretty sure that they will be eating takeout every night we are gone. Except for the 2 days Shelly... Read Full Story

You know what is funny, on Monday when you weigh in and you had a good week you just feel great. I couldn't wait to not eat junk today. I am so excited and happy. So, that's an important point - the key to having a good week every week is in making sure the week before was good. How do we do this? The most important thing is to not use a good week to justify a bad. My Dad is a pro at this. He'll say, well, I lost 3 lbs last week, so I can eat THREE BAGS of chips on the weekend. This is just... Last weeks update came on the heels of "New Scale Woe". This week finds us after "Comfort Eating Galore" and the numbers don't lie. Its been a rough couple of weeks - we've all been battling colds, we've been grieving losses, the cold and the snow are getting us down. But we can not let these things keep us down. I'm listening to the State of the Union Address as I write this. President Obama is talking about education in the US and how we are falling behind other countries, how parents need... Angela - your post is a good reminder. Look, we all love to eat. I had a decent week, but I gained weight. We went to Five Guys on Saturday because we wanted to. We skipped breakfast and tried not to eat too much later in the day. It is going to happen. Mom and Dad went to Georgia and they ate at Golden Corral - it is going to happen. There was a birthday party and there was cake and so it got eaten - it is going to happen. It is not the few slip ups that create our problem - it is when all... Read Full Story

This is a very quick, numbers only update. I'm a loser and have been putting it off all day because I do the update at night when I retire to the office and I'm a little OCD so I have to follow my routine. Anyways...I am going to post tomorrow, during the day, and I will discuss the weight loss topics that have been on my mind. Good night and good luck! Read Full Story

So, at work we are having a contest as a Management team. We all bought pedometers and we are competing to see who can have the most steps in a month. At first I thought I had a shot and then I saw the results last week. I am the heaviest member of the management team and surprise, surprise, I had the least steps by far during practice week. One guy had 12,000 steps per day!!! I don't know how I will compete, but I do know that I need to figure out something. Maybe I will dust off the... Read Full Story

Week 1 of the New Year! It is difficult to get back into the swing of things but not as tough as I thought. We've done it before and it's easy to get back into the swing of the right things to do. Light breakfast, light lunch, fruit or veggies as a snack, low fat dinner. Exercise. Don't eat fast food or takeout. If you do eat a restaurant meal, make a sensible choice - substitute a salad for fries and order the sandwich without cheese or mayo. Not that it's easy to avoid temptation. It's... Read Full Story

I ate my lunch and I am sitting here. I am not hungry at all, but I don't feel like really doing anything, so I want to go and grab a snack or go walk around and check in with people to see if they have candy in their office. It is always hardest to make good food decisions when we have low energy. If we aren't feeling great about ourselves, or are feeling a bit down, it gets even tougher. I won't go and find candy - I came here instead. I do know that I am tired and in pain today. I am... Read Full Story

My weekend was a bit of a letdown. I didn't eat anything that was awful, but I did have too many drinks. Alchohol counts! I also had too many bowls of bean salad - it may be good for you but it packs calories. This week I am going to try to limit the scotches and get back some of what I lost. I lost weight, but I was 290 on Friday and I am 294 today. So, if you are disappointed that your week didn't go as well as you wanted, it is important to get right back to it! Good luck this week and... Read Full Story
