As I write this it's 5 am in the morning. I've got my first Tim Horton's coffee on the go and I'm sitting at my home computer overlooking the Humber River:
Why do people on a crowded bus or subway put their bags on the empty seat beside them? Do I really have to ask them to move it so I can sit down?
With the proliferation of smart phones, why do I still have a land line? Even my Mother calls me on my cell phone.

What’s the best food to ‘fuel up’? My wife hates when I ask that question especially since she is a great cook and works hard to prepare nutritious and varied meals. But for us runners it’s an important question, especially what to eat before and after training or a big race. Today we are talking about what and how to eat thanks to Susan Smallwood who posed this question on the Reggae Marathon Facebook page :
In a recent blog you talked about training tips for newbies . If you have any... Read Full Story

Yes it’s a cliche but these pictures from Reggae Marathon 2011 are truly priceless. These are from Saturday morning of the race and are some of my favourite…so far!
Reggae Marathon start and not a bleary eye to be seen
Do I spot a couple of Running Girlz here at the start of Reggae Marathon ? I’m pretty sure you guys should be concentrating on your running form rather than dancing. But then again, with the loud Bob Marley music at the start that was a challenge.
Everyone can use a... Read Full Story

The Scotiabank Toronto Marathon and 1/2 Marathon was the largest race I've run in. With the 'thousands' of runners I was always running in a crowd. And it wasn't the runners in the race: it seemed as if the entire route was crowded with spectators. It sure was that way as we turned up Bay Street toward the finish line. The noise of the spectators who packed both sides of the road all the way to the finish powering us on was thrilling. I won't forget that any time soon.
This year I'm... Read Full Story

25,000+ runners enjoyed themselves last weekend in Miami at the ING Miami Marathon. A few were friends of Reggae Marathon and they stopped by the Reggae Marathon booth at the Race Expo to say hi.
Some new friends included the 4 members of Black Girls Run who posed for us (in the photo above). These are “super positive” role model runners who were recently featured in Runners’ World Magazine and are talking about coming to Reggae Marathon 2012.

I love parties with people having a good time. And the Reggae Marathon Pasta Party was a great time last December. With nearly perfect weather for an outdoor party, the steel band music provided the perfect backdrop. And let’s not forget the food! The spicy and tasty Rasta Pasta was a hit of course along with all the other varieties of truly delicious pasta prepared by the Negril resorts. I enjoyed myself and so did these runners who were there Friday night. Recognize any of these... Read Full Story

It’s always a good year to celebrate being Jamaican: our people, culture, sports, art and music. In 2012, every Jamaican on the planet will have the opportunity to celebrate as Jamaicans take to the track at the Olympic games in London this summer, and more importantly, as we all celebrate the 50th year our Independence.
I was all of 4 years old when Jamaica officially achieved Independence. While I can’t accurately recall exactly how I spent that day, I do remember the massive sense of... Read Full Story
