January 1, 2008-Happy New Year!
Today's poem is titled, "Mystery by the Sea."
Ancient mysteries intrigue us all; especially near great Akumal. Silence surrounds wanderers from near and far; still in hush of a people's great fall. Air, hot and heavy with each step, slowly I move forward to the precipice. Thousands of miles abroad I can see, a vast countryside; perilous, but free. "On Uncle John's Farm," by Charmane Rae Kelley The smell of old splashed milk in the cracks of the floor, and time-aged wood; uneven and weathered; Built many years before; A barn, lonely on Morey hill; A farmer, old and can barely see, still works in the wee morning hours; tending cows, calves and horses to feed; As he creaks open the door at frosty dawn, kittens mew at his feet as he walks down the manger strewing fodder; Another day, even harder than yesterday... "Lioness Winter," by Charmane Rae Kelley Snow storms that pounce; Burying all close To it’s earthly womb; Claiming a few lives To feed it’s young; Then giving birth To Spring If you think about it, a winter storm could be compared to a Lioness!
