Forgetful Friday.
So I blast out to Greenbush only to find I forgot to put peddles on the bike. Drove back to Plymouth and stopped at Back Door Bike Shop and Josh borrowed me a set of platforms. I sure did miss clipping in but a ride is a ride. And I got to bust out some old BMX moves. We seem to be getting Octobers weather in November. I love that.Tomorrow morn I will be doin' the group ride in full cross race mode. Gonna rock the Easton wheels just cuz I can. Should be fun. DLD Read Full Story

Tues nite ride \ New Wave Wednesdays
File photo Nite ride last nite was fun. Two hours in the woods in zone 5. So many leaves that I took the wrong turn more than once. And fast enough that I never had time to get out the camera hence the file footage pic from last year.Just like the cross race last weekend, I was completely wasted after the ride and am still a bit sore this morn. I sure can tell how low my cycling fitness is from last year. I just need to get out and peddle more but its the wrong time of year to have that minds... Read Full Story
My Happy Place.
Every once in a while I would mention my morning rides to the local State Park. I do this almost every day rain or shine, car or bike. Have been for years. Even when I had a day job I took this ride before I hit the office. This summer I just did not get to do it on a bike as much as I wanted even tho I did not need to be at the store till 10am. Todays ride was in a car as it was 34 degrees and my motivation is in the crapper of late. Weather permitting I always sit on my fav picnic table for ... Read Full Story
Love\Hate Cross.
This is why I love cross. Halloween day. The coffins of death used to be flaming but they discontinued that tradition. I can see why. But take away all this foolishness I pretty much had the worst race of my entire career. Weeks of rain made for soft grass just sucked my will to live. This is why I hate cross. I just had to work so much harder than most. Give me dry and fast any day. I contemplated just quiting but the race directer had pitty on me and just pulled me. It felt like a 30 minut... Trip down memory lane.
With the weather in the crapper again I just spent the last two hours pulling old videos off of Youtube. I found this one and it just made me smile thinking back to my youth. I was so into new wave back in the early 80's. Life was so much simpler then. I watched\listened to this video about 5 times. Every time a new memory came to me. I'm gonna keep on doing this well into the afternoon.DLD Read Full Story
Pending Death of Fall
proof the sun was outWith the pending death of fall just around the corner I spent most of the day playing hooky yesterday. I noticed on this mornings park ride (in a car) that a billion leaves were falling and the trees will soon be empty. I plan on a bike ride at some point today but the wind might just push me into the woods. That's not a bad thing. I had a blast riding this years Topfuel 9.8 but my rides on that machine are counting down. Just a few more before its back on the salesfloor.... Read Full Story
Sun
Its amazing on how fast my mood turns when the sun comes out. Yesterday I busted out a 45 miler with the sun shining the entire way. All of a sudden 48 degrees becomes so much more tolerable. Today I stumbled into the store around 130pm having been goofing off all morning. Told everyone I was home cleaning out my gutters but instead I was checking out the fall colors near Parnell. I'm in the store until BMatter shows and then its over to the local park for some cross practice. Will be here S... Read Full Story
Weekend Update.
Only in Wisconsin. Cyclocross races canceled due to inclement weather. I say good call. I can understand the park systems not wanting their parks trashed. And we all must remember that without the cooperation of land owners, whoever they are, there would be no races. Turns out the weekend was not that bad. Got the Breakfast ride in Saturday morn. This guy showed up for this weeks special guest. 45 miles total. Again, with the limited woods to ride I opted for road wheels on the cross bike and... Read Full Story
Cyclocross weather?
I really don't know what to say. No break in the weather. Rain in forecast for the next 6 to 8 days. Hopefully there will be a break in the clouds at some point. Absolutely nothing to do today. Was hard to find a reason to get out of bed this morn. Its getting harder and harder to find something to do at the store. Very boring.Racing is pretty much out for this weekend. Just no motivation to make such a long drive Saturday morn. Hope to do the group ride instead.Still did the morning park ri... Read Full Story
