The Jason Bay situation seems to be a one horse race (Mets) as the Seattle Mariners have traded for Milton Bradley to be their left fielder. It seems that the Mets will be bidding against themselves for his services. The Mets apparently have upped their offer to five years according to New York Post . But some are reporting that the Mets might go six years (which would be a mistake).
Some sources say the deal is close to being done and it will include five years with a sixth year option... Read Full Story

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post , the Mets are looking into trading for starting pitcher Gil Meche.
The Mets will have their feelers out for John Lackey , who the Mets think would be a ideal number two behind Johan Santana. The Mets do NOT want to give Lackey more than 4 years. Someone will probably break that barrier, so the Mets are looking into other options.
Omar Minaya and Royals GM Dayton Moore spoke several times before these meetings, and plan to expand on talks... Read Full Story

Hello to all, hope your holiday season so far has been pleasant. I took time off from writing about the New York Mets because of last year's disaster. I have been doing a lot of work ( to pay the bills) and ignoring the fact that the Mets were not even close to making the play-offs and the Hankee's won the World Series.
This off-season will be a long and dragged out process.. The Mets have been pondering the names like John Lackey, Jason Bay, and Matt Holliday, but none seem to be sure... Read Full Story

Flash back to August 21st, 2005. It was a hot late-summer afternoon at Shea Stadium where the Mets were hosting the Washington Nationals. By the fifth inning, the Mets found themselves trailing 7-0. All appeared to be lost until a rookie came to the plate by the name of Mike Jacobs . Jacobs, a highly ranked Mets prospect, made his major league debut and promptly hit a three-run home run on the first pitch he saw. The Mets went on to lose that game 7-4, but Jacobs continued his torrid hitting... Read Full Story
