Some educators in New Jersey apparently “earned” graduate degrees through a certain ”university”. Two local newspapers note these efforts at self-improvement.
A ”poor excuse” is what The Asbury Park Press calls the decision to pursue such questionable credentials. Moving right along, a second editorial in The Star Ledger thinks the matter is “unbelievable“. Read Full Story

Normally, I try to use this weekly post for highlighting private or state university consortium portals. But occasionally, exceptions arise, such as bain4weeks.com. In essence, Lawrie Miller describes — in considerable detail, I might add — what’s required to earn the coveted bachelor’s degree from one of the three colleges known in distance learning circles as the “Big Three”.
First, the “Big Three” are Charter Oak State College (CT), Excelsior College (NY), and Thomas Edison State College... Read Full Story

Via the News Blog at The Chronicle of Higher Education, we find the President and CEO of the Career Colleges Association asserting that a career college may be “better bet for D.C.”. Meanwhile, the President of the American Association of Community Colleges responds.
If you’ll note my links, then you can probably guess which side I likely favor. ;-) Read Full Story

Baker’s Guide to Christian Distance Education seems like another good site to browse for collegiate-level programs offered online or through other distance learning-related media. Numerous programs and schools are listed in the site database.
My only criticism relates to completeness. For example, when searching available programs at Oral Roberts University on Baker’s Guide, two graduate degrees appear. But, according to its own website, ORU maintains an External Degree Program... Read Full Story
