I love raw food.   I love the way it tastes, how my skin and hair responds to the influx of nutrients, how it makes me feel more alive and energetic, and the intensity of the flavors. I enjoy using my creativity in designing a menu, in creating new recipes and arranging unique combinations of my tried and true favorites.   It’s an art form and a fun way to express myself. But this doesn’t mean raw foods are the only foods I eat.   I am constantly being asked about what I eat and honestly... Read Full Story

There is no shortage of dietary experts, many of which promote their way as the best way.  Much of the advice you hear or read in this world of information overload is contradictory, which becomes downright confusing to someone who is just starting out in their efforts at improving their diet.  Should they become a vegetarian? I never knew I had sweat glands in my shins.  I kept wondering where the water pouring down my legs was coming from…my shins and knees couldn’t possibly be producing sweat.  Perhaps my vision was just blurred from the sweat pouring off of the tip of my nose and I was starting to hallucinate.  I’m not typically a sweater, so all of this liquid pouring from my body was a bit disturbing to me.  The source of all the sweating…I was in the midst of my first hot yoga class. Hot yoga, for the... Read Full Story

Okay, I admit it…I get some kind of sick pleasure out of saying that I send my kids to school in the morning with a belly full of raw kale or spinach. As I watch them sipping away at their freshly made green smoothies, I pat myself on the back thinking I am such a genius at deception. What parent doesn’t want to get more green vegetables into their children’s diet? My seven year old daughter cringes at the idea of eating a salad with dinner, but lately I have her happily slurping away at her... Would you dedicate ten minutes of your day if that was all it took to discover the Fountain of Youth? Or would you laugh and scoff at this seemingly absurd idea tossing it aside as some new age, book-idea-selling-mumbo-jumbo-nonsense? The Five Tibetans are five rites or rituals, which if performed on a daily basis over time are thought to reverse the aging process and restore one to a state of youth and vitality. When I initially heard this claim, I thought it was the most ridiculous thing... Read Full Story
