Jerry Falwell
Overview: Jerry Falwell is nothing if not controversial. This portal keeps track of the lively news, opinions, debates, discussions about or derived from Falwell and his preachings. Falwell, a Virginia native and Baptist minister, fathered the "Moral Majority" movement that grew up in the 1980s. Falwell became a public figure through his TV show, the 700 club, with a style that gives us that old time Bible thumping. Most known for for stances against drugs, promiscuity, Gay Rights and the like, Falwell has also supported the talk by founding organizations to help young pregnant women and men with drug and alcohol related problems. Jerry Falwell has often been on the block for putting his foot in his mouth, and then trying to extract it. Most famous example, a speech in which he accused "the pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians" for helping 9/11 happen. Then came out later the same day and apologized. Though a health crisis in 2005 has slowed him down some, he's still on the news radar and this portal will pick it up when it happens.
