Simple math does not make for simple automotive purchases. If only GoodCarBadCar.net could provide you with a mathematical equation: input the degree to which you want specific categories weighted, the type of vehicle, and the price spectrum and out pops a make and model. Of course, in the four categories discussed for this Cube vs. Soul series, Kia came out on top with 32 points to the Cube's 30. More accurately, Kia took charge with victories in Features, Performance, and Interior. Nissan's... Read Full Story

"Peer into your Soul," says Kia Canada. "Your Soul is revealed," they add. Kia USA says the 2010 Soul is "A new way to roll". Nissan markets the Cube as "a new way to be connected". They say that "Cube is the new black" and encourage you to personalize and share. Previously, we'd been under the impression that all automotive marketing was supposed to revolve around outright acceleration, e-braking into an urban parking space, and attacking corners on an ultra-black road with wildly green gras... Hummer, Saab, and Porsche all posted tremendously lower sales this June than last. Porsche, worst of all, was down 66%; 902 sales this year compared with over 2,000 last June. Volvo was the only premium automaker competing in the USA to improve on last June's total, helped no doubt by their larger model range. That being said, numerous luxury brands have larger ranges now and still sold at decreased rates. Check out the graph below for a full rundown of luxury car sales in the USA last month.... Only two automakers competing in the United States posted increased year-over-year sales in June. Subaru's gain was small (up 3.4%) and Volvo's was miniscule (up 0.59%); attributable solely to its increased model range. On the other hand, Canada's June Sales Stats show eleven automakers with improvements compared with June of '08. Before attempts are made to weight the benefit of certain features found inside a Nissan Cube or Kia Soul, take note of the price symmetry. Read through the oracles of GoodCarBadCar.net and it won't be long before you realize that The Good Car Guy firmly believes that this, right now, is the golden age of the automobile. However, that does not make 2009 the golden age of automotive style. Many currently produced vehicles are not as good-looking as their ancestors. Think about the Ferrari 360 Modena and the lackluster Ferrari F430. How 'bout the severely deteriorating Toyota Camry or the regressing BMW 3-Series? Oh, they get the d... Read Full Story

Upon declaring the arrival of this series of GoodCarBadCar.net articles, The Good Car Guy specifically avoided naming the winner of the most categories as the overall winner. Kia's tidily packaged Soul and Nissan's appropriately named Cube are far too unique to put in the proverbial box. Subjectivity takes hold with vehicles such as these... and it doesn't let go. That being said, there are straightforward variances when reviewing these two vehicles that must be pointed out.Today's subjects a... Read Full Story

For fear of being accused of bias after losing out in the hypercube.ca competition, The Good Car Guy has been reluctant to voice honest opinions about the differences in this dynamic duo. First, Kia zoomed the Soul into the North American market. Shortly thereafter, the Nissan Cube came along and GoodCarBadCar.net stood a very good chance, as one of 500 auditioners, of landing one of 50 Nissan Cubes in Canada. Don't believe for a second that GoodCarBadCar.net was ever going to display favour ... Read Full Story

Gordon Murray's McLaren F1 is certainly gone but not at all forgotten. Having entered production in 1993, the 240-mph F1 was powered by a high-tech BMW V12 but was, in essence, a simple car. How unlike the Bugatti Veyron. Yes, the Veyron used a high-tech quad-turbo W16. But simple? Not in the least. Bugatti's exoticar is very, very heavy. It's also amazingly luxurious whereas the McLaren is... well, comfortable at best.Thankfully, Top Gear has positioned the planet's two most famous exoticars... Read Full Story
