Tibet is gone…
The governments of the free world watched it go and paid the merest lip service to efforts to save it.
It is has been fifty years since the Chinese government ordered the invasion of Tibet. Under its control so many Tibetans have been murdered that, if we were to stand for a minutes silence for each one we would be standing for over two years.
Thousands of Tibetans have been imprisoned and tortured simply because they have stood up and staged peaceful protests against the... Read Full Story

Over the last two days English politicians - or more properly politicians in England - have come out with some howlers during the aftermath of the local elections and after the London Mayor results.
Tessa Jowell (New Labour) “When you look closely, we didn’t do too badly. We actually won one set in the London Assembly.”
Ed Millipede (New Labour) “I am old enough to remember the Wilson years. i can clearly remember that on the day Harold Wilson resigned they cancelled P... Read Full Story

X360 or PS3? If I had been asked that question before launch day for the Microsoft console my answer would have been clear. I bought the original black XBOX years ago and have had hundreds of trouble free hours of game play with it (in fact I still, thankfully have two!). I generally enjoy Xbox specific games rather than PS and thought the Sony console’s graphics were poorer in comparison (and yes I do have a PS2, given to me as a present by a Sony-fanboy who was trying to ‘convert’ me).

Oh well PS3 here I come.
Having had my X360 back for a few months after it was repaired under the ‘three rings of death’ extended warranty, I thought all was well, until it stopped reading my game discs! This is due to the failure of the disc drive - which isn’t covered by the new extended warranty. All because that not only does the console suffer from poor design - the component parts are all made from cheap monkey pooh!

Who now says Gordon Brown will be a better PM than Tony Blair? Only Gordie and the glove puppets!
Who now says Sam Allardice would make a great England football manager? No one who supports Newcastle United … or any team that beat them….. or anyone else who knows anythings at all about football (including the Americans who still insist its ’soccer’)!
Who says girls can’t play football? Disproved by Ronaldo and Ronaldinho!

Please leave the poor woman who was jailed in the Sudan alone now she has been pardoned and safely returned to her home in Liverpool. She was foolish and did an insensitive, uninformed, foolish thing, and nearly paid a terrible price for her folly. Let’s allow her to move on. However, please make sure she is retrained before letting her loose in the UK’s Milti-ethnic schools - I certainly don’t want someone as ill informed as her teaching my children.
To all those members ... Read Full Story

Watching BBC News 24 this morning I viewed an interview with a member of the Prison Officer’s Association with mounting unease. The POA are seeking permission to allow Officers to carry and use ‘expendable batons’ on offenders as young as 15.
Questioned closely by the BBC interviewer the spokesman admitted that the situation had grown to critical proportions because of overcrowding in Young Offenders Establishments, and this was due to the increasing numbers of custodial se... Read Full Story

I am not a fan of the English rugby team (being of Welsh stock) so I think I can be objective about that team’s defeat in last night’s World Cup Final.
South Africa’s points all came from penalties (obviously awarded by the referee). The disallowed Try was in fact a Try. Many offences that should have led to English penalties were made by the Boks in front of the referee or the touch judges - a blatant crossing and an off the ball body check being just two.
The referee was a... Read Full Story

I am not a Tory, but I feel uneasy when a Government Cabinet Minister Geoff (this and every year’s labour patsy) Hoon accuses the Tories of “undermining democracy” by using money donated by Lord Ashcroft (Tory Deputy Chairman) to target marginal constituencies. This is not currently illegal, the amount spent per constituency is only capped during the election period. The implication is that the Government is considering introducing legislation to cap spend between elections ... Read Full Story

So old man Ming has (if you believe the official line) decided to step down as Lib Dem leader ‘for the good of the party.’ But, did he step down, or did he jump? Was he, perhaps, stabbed in the back like Caesar by less honourable and smaller men?
The Lib Dem pack that are circling round his tomb (the body lies elsewhere) or rather the BBC TV Centre, claim that Ming went of his own accord, and that he spoke to no one about his decision, and that he does not want to give a press statement.
I wo... Read Full Story
