Nancy at The Zimmer Zoo tagged me for this meme. The instructions are: * Go to your Sixth Picture Folder then pick your Sixth Picture. * Pray that you remember the details. * Tag 5 others. A ha! I DO remember the details of this one. It's easy, YAY! This is 4-year-old Bee, as flower girl in her older brother Brian's wedding. This was her 3rd of 4 flower girl gigs in one year. Seriously. She's a pro. I could hire her out. I'm tagging: Rachel at Life in the South Becky at In the... Read Full Story
People think I'm weird because: -I like to stay home. -I refuse more invitations than I accept. -I don't talk on the phone. To anyone, except my husband and my parents, occasionally. People who know me well always leave me a message, or send me an e-mail, because they know that I won't answer the phone. When I have to communicate with someone, I go out of my way to do it in writing. -I have no commitments outside the home. -I despise shopping, sporting events, and any other activity... This is my basement pantry. I also have a small pantry in my kitchen, but I use these shelves in my laundry room for storing stockpiled sale goods. I don't plan meals far in advance, and I don't shop to make specific meals. Instead, I shop to replenish my pantry. I disagree with the idea of a predetermined, stick-to-your-list menu plan, for the following reasons: 1) I buy groceries according to what's on sale that week. 2) I frequently see unadvertised or clearance sales on items that I... In light of the current economic crisis, we've decided that some belt tightening is in order. So far, we've lost 10% of our retirement savings. Sadly, this is considered a small loss, compared to the 30% and 40% losses being suffered by others. We are fortunate that my husband is still 15 years from retirement age, so we have time to (hopefully) recover our losses. I'm very sad for those people who don't have this luxury. Yesterday, I read this quote from Suze Orman, "A lot of you have... Read Full Story
Right now, I have none. I recently read a blog post, which was a response to the question, "How do you get motivated to do the chores you hate?" The author's response? (I'm paraphrasing here) "I just decide to like my chores. Even if I don't feel like doing them, I just get up and do them anyway!" So THAT'S what I've been doing wrong! I'm just supposed to decide to like my chores, and then everything will be OK! I'm sorry, I know that I sound a bit snarky, but this response just makes me... Read Full Story
Last night I was exhausted (as always!) and I had no idea what to make for supper. I was digging through the freezer, and I discovered a small piece of leftover pot roast (about 8 ounces) way in the back. I decided that it was time to whip up a quick batch of vegetable soup. There is a common misconception that homemade soups are difficult to make, but they're actually very simple! They're also a great way to use up leftovers, and stretch small amounts of meat. Soups are warm and hearty... Read Full Story
This picture is from Halloween, 2004. We dressed 2-year-old Bee up like Blue, because she absolutely loved Blues Clues. I even made blue, paw print cakes for her birthday that year. She's laughing at my parents' Halloween welcome mat, which made spooky noises every time anyone stepped on it. If only we could all find such great happiness in the little things! Read Full Story

First of all, thanks again to everyone for their prayers. You're a great encouragement to me right now :) My doctor has diagnosed me with hyponatremia (low blood sodium) and adrenal dysfunction. They want to check my lipids, because high cholesterol can exacerbate this problem. I will have to fast from 9:30 tonight until 9:30 tomorrow morning, and when they get the lipid profile results back, they'll send me to an internist to determine the proper course of treatment. *sigh* I'm coping...
