Come to find out today that Lou Williams suffered a fractured jaw in last night’s game. I don’t remember the elbow, does anyone else? He was clearly unaware of the severity of the injury during the game.
X-rays today revealed the fracture. He is out for tonight’s game, meaning Jrue Holiday SHOULD be starting. Whether Eddie Jordan will screw this up is still a game-time decision.
No word on how long Lou will be out, but, according to his Twitter account, he think thinks h... Read Full Story

Check this quote out.
“I think I’m one of the best all-around players out there. I don’t know what it was – I guess it was not making shots. I feel like I defend better than anybody out there. Whatever the reason may be, I can’t really harp on it. I just move on and don’t let this drag on.” ~ Andre Iguodala
I am not a fan of this dude as it is, and quotes like this don’t make it any better.
It just adds to many fans’ perception that he thinks extremely highly o... Read Full Story

DAMN!
Most exciting quarter of basketball for this team all season and Iguodala and Brand were squarely planted on the bench.
I am torn right now just a little bit. I am in no way about moral victories especially when this is the third straight loss and against a 3-9 opponent. But we saw some great things from the rook, Lou (offensively of course), Sam and Thad.
I am just going to hit some points quickly and we can discuss in the comments.
When Lou is making jumpers he is extremely tough to... Read Full Story

First off I am a little pissed off Eddie Jordan gave Gilbert Arenas some fuel for his fire already:
Asked if he believes Arenas can be an effective leader, Jordan said,
“He’s capable of leading them in scoring. He’s capable of leading them as a competitive presence. That can be contagious. I’m not saying he can’t be, but I don’t know if he can be a leader.” ~ Eddie Jordan
Now if you think that was nothing, then you underestimated Gilbert Arenas and you probably just aren’t that co... Read Full Story

Hang on to your hats, the Phils are about to make their first move of the official off-season by signing… Juan Castro!
FoxSports and Philly.com are reporting that a deal might be close on Castro, who would replace Eric Bruntlett as the Phils’ utility infielder who isn’t any good.
Here is a breakdown of the two players’ stats over the last two seasons…
*UZR is career number at SS
So – Castro is a slightly better hitter and definitely a better fielder than ... Read Full Story

Well, there is a headline I didn’t think I’d ever be writing before the season.
Winston Justice, who has played very well in place of Shawn Andrews, was locked up by the team to be our RT for the next 4 seasons opposite Jason Peters. Looks like Justice and Peters are the new Thomas and Runyan.
The deal was 4 years, $18.6 million, a potential bargain if Justice continues to play well and a potential problem if he goes the way of the Andrews brothers.
It is somewhat surprising to m... Read Full Story

I’ve already gotten started on 2 of the 3 off-season features on ReclinerGM – the all-time tournament, and the top-20 prospects. The third is a continuation of a project I started earlier this season, rankings the top-20 individual seasons in Phillies history. We continue on with #14, Brad Lidge in 2008.

Of course, the first televised Villanova game of the year comes at the same exact time as the Eagles critical prime time game against the Bears. And, I can’t DVR the Nova game because I’m DVR’ing Dexter, Family Guy and Curb Your Enthusiasm already. I know, tough life.
Anyway, the result is that I did a lot of flipping back and forth between the games and caught a good deal of both of them. Here are my thoughts and observations of the two games…

Just a reminder that all the Phillies’ Prospects articles can be found on the page linked on the right-hand side of the screen.
I plan on doing specific posts for each of my top-10 prospects in the Phillies system, but I wanted to acknowledge the rest of my top-20 list here.

In the game preview I asked if the Sixers had any shot to win this game. My conclusion was not at all. Others had the same feeling as well.
And although they played better the result was the same – a loss. I think we will have to get used to that against the better teams too. The Sixers just don’t shoot well enough from the perimeter and they settle too often for those lower percentage shots for them to beat good defensive teams.
The question is there anything we can take from ... Read Full Story
