The Danger servers shutdown today. It’s hard to put into words the impact that Danger and the Hiptop had on the entire wireless industry, as well as me personally. I know that it also played a personal role in a large number of people’s lives.

Those of you that picked up a new Sidekick 4G probably already know that the old Sidekick forums (aka “Powered by Danger” or “hiptop.com”) are no longer geared towards the new Android based Sidekick. We also have no plans on spinning the old forums back up.

No official word from T-Mobile, but Radioshack let it slip that they’ll be selling the Sidekick 4G on April 20th. That means current Sidekick users won’t have to use a temporary phone after the May 31st shut off of the existing Sidekick service. You’ll be able to jump directly to the new Sidekick!
