Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary defines a FAN as such: an enthusiastic devotee, ardent admirer or enthusiast, and guesses it’s etymology to come from the word fanatic.

THESE are the fans of which I speak and the social web has drawn them out of the woodwork. Some of them, like Chris Crocker landed their own development deal after showing their “fannage”….in this case for supreme devotion to Britney Spears.
