I tried and tried but I cannot stop myself from pointing out the obvious, once again, to the Liberals in both the USA and Canada for their principled (cough cough) stand on the latest exploit of their hero in the White House. For years during the Bush administration these standard bearers for the belief that all terrorists should be treated as criminals and not combatants of war have fallen silent as the “drone” warrior claims another victim. Due process my ass, say the Libs, just take my... Read Full Story

Recently the news has been chuck full of stories claiming injustice in the 20 year old case of a convicted cop killer. Those opposed to the Death Penalty seem to always claim “injustice” when a person, summarily convicted and sentenced, is about to be legally executed for his/her crimes. While I can understand opposition to the “ultimate penalty” on the basis of sound logic re: (innocent people may be executed) I think it’s somewhat pathetic to use the media to stir up the emotions of the so... Remember the “Common Sense Revolution” and the practical people in the PC Party who thought that the Government should only spend what it takes in? Do you recall how Harris fought with the large public sector unions, especially the teachers, saying they should be qualified to teach if our children were to be entrusted to them. What about his stance on Health Care and the concern he had that 60 cents of every tax dollar was going into the huge and inefficient system that did not provide... Read Full Story

As I have said before I cannot think of a single person or group of people that I hate. Certainly there are people that do or say things that I dislike but all in all I can honestly say that I don’t waste any time or energy on hating anyone. Having said that then it will be of no surprise when I tell you that I cannot understand why certain folks hate other people so passionately that they are able transfer it from one generation to another and another.
One group that illustrates my point... Read Full Story

I spent last week at one of the Disney resorts in Florida with my wife, son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. It was our second trip to the “Magic Kingdom” over the past 3 years and it once again reinforced my belief that the USA is the best Country in the world. No, not just because I love Mickey Mouse, but it is what this amazing place represents when you think in terms of the American psyche.
Walt Disney was an American entrepreneur “extraordinaire” to be sure but he was just one... Read Full Story

During my career I have flown hundreds of thousands of air miles on almost every type of aircraft imaginable (unfortunately never the SST) and with every large medium and small carrier in North America and several in Asia, Europe and elsewhere. For over 30 years I was an Aeroplan member of some type and frequently used Air Canada to fly around the Country and in particular across the pond. Certainly on overseas flights I would rate them up near the top and domestically they were reasonable... Read Full Story

Instead of constantly complaining about high taxes and unsustainable government debt we need to find and elect a brave politician that will actually take action to correct these things. Rob Ford is trying to do something like this in Toronto but it is very difficult to tackle some of the bigger issues when you don’t have the power to make unilateral decisions. Most of the worst excesses of feeding at the trough and increasing the debt happen at the Provincial level so this is where I will... Read Full Story

The other day I was sitting in a Tim Horton’s having a coffee and a muffin waiting on my wife to arrive at the airport. As I looked out the window I saw a dingy looking character walking down the street. He was dirty and dishevelled with the knees torn out of his pants, wearing a filthy T shirt and some old running shoes. He was walking and talking to himself while making strange gestures with his arms and then all of a sudden he makes a sharp left turn and headed for the bench in front of... Read Full Story

Well the new TV network seems to be holding its own much to the chagrin of many on the left side of the political spectrum. Patterned after the Fox News network in the USA that touts a “fair and balanced” look at the news I believe that their hard news people are living up to that same standard and providing news without the bias that is seen on the established stations and of course the CBC. The fresh viewpoints from the opinion shows on the right are a sight for sore eyes for us citizens... Read Full Story

Can you imagine, somewhere up above, the conversation between Her Majesty Queen Victoria and the Right Honourable Winston Churchill about the current events in London England. These riots have put the final boots to the classic image of the English as the most civilized and honourable people on the globe. As far back in British history as you can go the gallantry and honour of the Englishman stood out from all others who lived in the same eras. From the Kings and Queens to the “Knights of the...
