Driver Safety Courses

If you’ve ever thought it would be a good idea for the other parents in your carpool group to take driver safety courses, I have a great suggestion for you. This company called National Driver Safety Services (NDSS) has defensive driving lessons you can take right over the web! Part of the reason I haven’t wanted to suggest driver improvement school for all the parents in the group, other than them thinking that I was judging their driving, was because I didn’t want them to have to go to a classroom and sit with all the traffic violators just to get the latest info on the driving laws that have changed. I didn’t particularly want to go there either, to be honest.

But now that you can take an online driver improvement course, I really think it would be a great idea. I’ve been looking into driver safety courses ever since I read an article about how dangerous it is to have your child in the car with someone who isn’t following the laws, and thought if we all got certified then it would be fair for everyone. At least we’d have the peace of mind that we all got a refresher on the laws and on how to drive defensively, and it wouldn’t single anyone out. It’s really inexpensive, too!

The course through NDSS is a really easy one, and it doesn’t require people to have the latest computers or be computer technicians or anything. The whole course is done through the web, and everybody can work at their own pace, as fast or as slow as they want. When they’re done, I think I’ll actually feel safer having my kids ride in the carpool than they would have been on the school bus. Have you seen the safety studies for bus drivers? They could use NDSS too!
