Botox Today, Juvederm Next Week
I went in for my appointment with my plastic surgeon today and, as anticipated, his schedule did not permit time to do both my Botox and Juvederm. He cleared some time for me next Friday so I'll just have to patient and wait until then. After I left the office, I realized that I was overcharged for my Botox. I get a special price but forgot to remind the girl at the desk and didn't realize that I had paid too much until after I left. I have to remember to tell her next week when I go in... Oh Happy Day! (Maybe)
Well, I have finally shaken Whisper! I found out that my new assistantship assignment is to one the department's most powerful professors (who I hear is a raging bitch) and I couldn't be happier. It may be short-lived happiness if it turns out that her reputation is accurate, but for right now, I'm just thrilled to finally be done with the wanker Whisper. My new prof is not associated with my grad program but is in a leadership position within my department. My association with this... Read Full Story

Still don't know what my assistantship assignment is this year. I called my grad program secretary to see what she knew but that was futile. She's sweet but not too informative. In the meantime, Whisper has finally acknowledged that he received my paper. He's such a creep. He contacted me after an email went out from another prof in our program inviting all of us to a soiree at her home in a few weeks. This prof is major competition for Whisper in the race for tenure and, last year... Read Full Story

Nifty-summer-teaching-job has completed, at least for the time being, and the course evaluations are beginning to roll in again. Just like last time, most of them are really positive. However, there are a very few that really piss me off to my very core. One of the high school students (or possibly a parent) rated me as a "below average" teacher but failed to follow it up with a comment as to what, exactly, they felt was substandard. Not that a comment explaining their opinion would have... Read Full Story
Detox Diet - Day 2
Well, things are not going exactly as I had planned but they aren't a total loss either. I'm drinking lots of fresh juices that I've made in my juicer including grape, carrot, broccoli, pear and orange. I mixed the broccoli juice with some carrot and pear to sweeten it up some and, to be honest, it wasn't bad tasting. The thing is, I'm constantly hungry. Yesterday, I ate some saltines with my fresh broccoli, carrot, cauliflower, onion soup. I also ate a piece of roasted chicken for... Read Full Story
UGH!
So. freaking. pissed. Husband and I had workers over this afternoon to remove these incredibly large limbs from a dead tree in our backyard. They dropped a 1000 pound limb on the roof of our house. Needless to say we need a new roof pronto because Florida is bracing for Fay, the latest tropical storm/hurricane. FUCK! Read Full Story
Microderm, Botox and Juvederm Treats
I went in for my microdermabrasion appointment on Friday and, fortunately, my surgeon had a cancellation for next week. Now I can get my Botox and Juvederm done....hopefully. The cancellation was time booked out for a consultation so the office manager told me that he may not be able to do everything during that time frame. I may get Botox only and have to go back for another appointment at a later date. I hope not. I really don't want to have to go back once school starts because I... Read Full Story
Detox Diet - Day 1
I started the 21 pounds in 21 days Martha's Vineyard detox diet this morning. Let's see how long I can last with no real food. I'd love if I can get through this week, but I'm not sure that I can. It's only been a few hours and I'm kinda hungry already. Yesterday I bought some super cool new toys to help me on the diet. I bought a juicer to make fresh fruit and vegetable juices and a small crock pot so that I can make vegetable soups. The diet requires that you puree the soups so that... Read Full Story

This is the last week of nifty-summer-teaching-job and boy will I be glad when it's over. I need a little break before starting back to grad school. Today, I taught the last of one area's middle school-aged classes and one for five and six-year-olds. I'm exhausted but I can't rest yet. I still have 8 more classes to go this week. The middle schoolers are horrible during the last week because they know it's over and it's impossible to corral their attention that one final time. It's... Read Full Story
So Much To Do...
...so little time! I spoke with Wisteria yesterday in preparation for our upcoming second year of shitty grad school. She, like me, disappeared from Glamorous City for the summer so we spent some time catching up, strategizing and deciding what classes we should be/would be taking. It's nice to know that even though I can't stand her stupid ass most of the time, I have someone to commiserate with. Then I tried to get an appointment with my plastic surgeon for Botox and Juvederm before the...
