A Couple Good Links You Should Read/Watch

Make sure to use signup code jhub for 33% rakeback when signing up for Cake Poker. Make sure you type it in as the SIGNUP CODE, not the promotional code or any other code. There's also a 100% deposit bonus up to $500. Transfers do not count as deposits. However, if you get money transferred into your account you will still be eligible for a deposit bonus once you actually make a deposit. If you need help getting money into Cake I usually have excess money in there & can swap money for money on another site where I have an account. Just post a comment on my blog or email me.
I don't have time for a full entry right now but I'll say that since I started table selecting like a mad man on February 16th I've been doing pretty well & making around $340/hr so far. I'm not sure how much of it is variance and how much of it is the effect of the table selection but I know that my table selection has had a significant positive effect on my hourly rate. I'm back in the green pre rakeback for 09. I'm up a little over $90K overall. While that's obviously below what I've become accustomed to, the games have gotten tougher & I don't know what kind of hourly is sustainable anymore. Some mediocre/bad players will start off the year hot & some top players will start off the year awful but it's the long run that counts. That said, I don't expect to have a quarter worse than my 1st quarter in 09 & I'm interested in seeing how my year ends up overall after starting on a horrendous downswing. I don't expect to make as much pre rakeback as I did in 08 because I'm playing a lot of super turbos & other games which are very profitable overall, but in which most of the profit comes from rakeback. Hourly rate is what truly matters anyway. They don't give you cash prizes (or any prize for that matter) for winning sharkscope leaderboards. Whether I can maintain $300/hr or more for a whole year like I did last year remains to be seen. I also had a nice 1 week break where I went on vacation to Arizona.
Recently Greg Raymer has had some interviews where he makes some great points on the UIGEA. I think everyone should read the interview & watch the video clip below, especially those of you who are overly paranoid about the gambling bill (a.k.a. a very large % of online players). I'll try to do a full entry with an update in a week or 2.
Enjoy:
