A CHRISTMAS TRADITION STEEPED IN FEAR & PARANOIA IS BORN
With a post that I wrote a few weeks ago, I gleefully announced the return of Christmas and all that comes along with it. And while I have struggled to get myself into the Christmas spirit this year, it is clear that Christmas is back and better than ever. Further proving my point is a wonderful new item just in time for Christmas called "Elf on the Shelf." With this product, a strange new Christmas tradition is born for parents everywhere. If you're all about threatening and frightening... Read Full Story
SAY IT AIN'T SO, SCOTT BAIO...
Scott, While I hate to do it, I'm going to open this letter to you by quoting Michael Bolton (and the late, great, Laura Branigan before him): "I could hardly believe it, when I heard the news today..." Now, I will spare you and my readers by not quoting the rest of the song, but I do feel that I need to address something that I heard about today. Why, Scott? Why'd you do it? The "it" I'm referring to, of course, is getting married. Apparently, it all happened yesterday, in a small ceremony... Read Full Story
"DANCING WITH THE TARDS"
With nothing to do last night, and two hours to wait until yet another ridiculously foolish episode of "Nip/Tuck," I decided to tune in to the finale of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars." While I suppose I can see the general appeal of this show, it just doesn't do it for me.Sure, I like to see people dance and I love the chance to see Mel B. with her cleavage hanging out. I also enjoy the orchestra, as it massacres Top 40 hits and turns them into ballroom/loungey muzak. Otherwise, the show... Read Full Story
VLADIMIR PUTIN: KEEPIN' IT REAL
It's no fun living these days with the constant threat of terrorism and terrorist attacks hanging over our heads. Though we should've expected 9/11 for a number of reasons, how could we ever have anticipated a catastrophe along those lines? For me, one of the saddest aspects of what the US is dealing with is the type of enemy that Osama Bin-Laden and Al-Qaeda is. Are they smart? Hell yeah. Courageous? Sure. Crazy? You bet. As far as terrorists and Enemies of the State go, they've got it... Read Full Story
EVEN BOZ SCAGGS IS TRYING TO 'PHISH' ME
Like so many other folks I know, I can't help but find myself enjoying Myspace a little too much. There is no denying the sheer joy that I get when I sign in and find that I have new messages, comments, or picture comments. And, aside from the occasional harassing remark some send, I usually really enjoy reading what people leave for me. On my Myspace page are my obligatory "top friends" which are made up of those closest to me, those I have known for quite some time, and some random... Read Full Story
A LETTER TO 'SIR' PAUL MCCARTNEY
Dear Sir Paul, You never responded to the letter that I sent you back in May regarding your new CD and my feeling that you really need to just hang it up. Well, I'm assuming that you at least read it. Anyway, I feel that I really need to follow up with you. I hope that you learned your lesson with this whole fiasco regarding your ex-wife. It's bad enough that you were desperate enough to marry an amputee in the first place (though I must admit, my mind wanders when I think about all of the... Read Full Story
