Our hearts go out to the friends and family of 'Swartz,' the heroic red smooth Dachshund who made local news about 5 years ago when he charged a mama bear that was in his territory near Alcoa, Tennessee. He suffered a bite and broken ribs from the incident, but recovered to live to the age of 12, finally succombing to seizures, prostate cancer, and Cushing's disease. His family is rightly devastated.
