A couple of months ago I started getting Social Security Disability checks after waiting 2 long years and being denied twice. I have not started getting Medicare yet, that will begin in December. From what I can see, it will offer very little help and will only further complicate an already complicated situation.

Today is my birthday, 49 years. My body feels 49 years and then some. The mind, well, that is a different story. My mind is still somewhere between 18-25, but much wiser and somehow sharper. We have been trying to do a "makeover" to every room in this old house. Slipcovers, new carpet, bed linens, applances, TV, windows, have all been brought in to spruce things up. Now our new pool is up and filling with water as I write. Our trampoline is also up, and we have been laying bark mulch around all of the flower beds. Today the new appliances that I had purchased arrived. A shiny, white, new refrigerator, dishwasher, washer, and dryer.
