Someone asked me the other day why I Blog. Wasn’t it simply a form of attention seeking? Isn’t it just a little sad?I was a tad lost for words at the time, but now I’ve had time to stand back and think about it and this is what I’ve come up with. . My Blog is my constant friend. I can tell my Blog anything I like and it never answers back. I tell it whatever I want and it never questions my motives or reasons.Ok, so true friends don’t give away your secrets and my Blog makes every effort to... Read Full Story

This weeks nudge on Matinee Muse is Driven by Obsession which fits really well with my ongoing story The Dress. She knew Martin was upset when she asked him to leave. More than upset, he was devastated. He was controlling her, driven by an obsession, but clearly didn’t realise. Whatever, he had to go so she could begin to enjoy the happy independent life she craved. Her mind went back to the last time she saw him. Just before he left he said he would always be there to protect her. Protect... Read Full Story

My cheeks are burning and my ears are ringing! Today I joined thousands of others who made their annual pilgrimage to Eastbourne’s famous air show – Airbourne 2008. The day was blessed with glorious sunshine. Not a cloud in the sky, a perfect stage on which to enact the drama which would soon unfold. . . Some slumped in deck chairs, others in wobbly canvas seat. Many claimed their pitch on the beach and the sensible ones joined me on the deck for a jug or two of Pimm’s. All life was there... Read Full Story

Please tell me I’m not the only person in the world who can’t wait for the Olympics to finish! I want my radio station back as it was a week ago. I want my favourite TV programmes back where they used to be. I admit I did really enjoy the opening ceremony. Who couldn’t? It doesn’t worry me that many of the fireworks we saw where actually added computer images. And whilst it’s a little sad that a nine year old girl wasn’t considered cute enough to stand on stage and sing (a ‘pretty’ girl... Read Full Story

Giggles who presides over the most colourful blog in the world has tagged me! And just for once I'm going to have a go. It's quite simple and here are the rules: Link to the person who tagged you. Mention the rules. Tell six quirky, yet boring, unspectacular details about yourself. Tag six other bloggers by linking to them. Go to each person’s blog and leave a comment that lets them know they’ve been tagged. If you participate, let the person who tagged you know you've posted your quirks... Read Full Story

By popular request I've added another chapter to my story about the leopard print dress! . Since he left, her constant companion had been her kitten, but now, suddenly it was gone. She held its collar to her cheek then broke down into uncontrollable sobbing. Then grabbing her coat she stumbled to the door, her legs almost buckling beneath her. She flung it open and tried to call out, but she was unable to make even a sound. It was then she saw it. There among the daffodils lay the motionless... Read Full Story

It rained all week in Cornwall. Except on Friday. On Friday it was a perfect English summer’s day, and it was made more perfect still when my daughter Penelope Joanne married James Thompson.' The venue was the historic castle in the tiny fishing village of St Mawes and after giving James an anxious fifteen minute wait, I walked Penny into the circular room followed by her four bridesmaids and her page boy. There she stood alongside Jim in front of their proud families and a few minutes... Read Full Story

As many of you know, in a few days time I will be giving away my daughter Penelope at her wedding to Jim. I now place before you a piece I originally posted back in June of last year which I thought seemed appropriate. Many of you were gracious enough to comment last time, so you are excused on this occasion! . . Having had three weddings, you would assume I've had enough experience to write a book on the subject.Wrong! Possibly a book on how to get it wrong would be an easier task! I...
