Telligent Reduction in Force revealed stength in many places
In the past week, Rob Howard, CEO of Telligent, had to make the gut-wrenching decision to reduce staff overhead. The economy we are experiencing is unprecedented and Telligent was not immune.
I have been at Telligent for 16 months and in that time we experienced incredible growth and excitement due to the vision and commitment of Rob and the team he assembled. Even 6 months ago we felt we could put the brakes on the growth and weather the storm. But that was not to be.
But, it is the hard decisions and the hard times that truly bring out the strength in people. The Telligent family is full of good, strong people and yesterday that was proven to me on many levels.
We lost a lot of good people...and if you read their blog posts and tweets, you will see just how good and just how strong those people are. They have not shown anger, they have shown understanding, stength and the resolve to pick themselves up, appreciate the time they had at Telligent and look to the future. (By they way, if you see a resume with Telligent on it, be sure to take a close look at that individual. They are probably a winner.)
I also witnessed a leader that was willing to look each and everyone of these employees in the eye and say, 'thank you and I am sorry.' Rob Howard has proven over and over that he is a business visionary, yesterday he proved he is a compassionate, leader of great teams who is willing to take responsibility for what happens to his employees, both good and bad.
I am proud to say that Rob Howard is my boss and I am proud to be part of the Telligent team. We will not back down.
