Wedding gift ideas

Well, it's June. Which means wedding season is in full swing. I'm still behind on last summer's weddings, but I know that with bebe on the way I better get ahead early for this year's tour...a few finds:

Deerinforest
1. Deer in Forest deco plate: from Tord Boontje, this fun decorative plate. Comes in red on white or grey on white; I prefer the latter as a gift (I love red, but it's just not for everyone). Porcelain, 13" diameter, $60.50 at Sprout Home.

Pillarcandleholders
2. While we're at Sprout, I also like (and these are definitely NOT for everyone, but your friends who just finished the renovations on their modern house will like them) - these seventies-ish candleholder/vases. Big enough for the big pillar candles, but also have smaller holes (likely intended to support tapers) that make them potential vases, too. I think a pair of the smaller size version (the large ones might just be too big) would be a great gift. The small size (8" tall) are $30/ea, the large (12") are $40/ea.

Tritontray 3. I'm a big fan of trays as wedding gifts. They're always useful, and something you just don't buy for yourself, generally. This one from notNeutral lives up to the brand name, in shades of persimmon orange and chocolate brown. It's shiny and lacquer and fabulous. Will chic-ify any home during those before-dinner drinks and hors d'oeuvres. $130 at DesignPublic.com.

Flipvideo 4. And last, for now, but certainly not least (in fact, this is my hands-down favorite), the Flip Video Ultra 60 minutes. Mine is white, which I love, but the black version (also available in an array of candy colors) is sort of classic looking, like something my parents would have received as a wedding gift FORTY YEARS AGO (happy anniversary, mom & dad)!  It's the most portable, fun way to document wedding festivities, honeymoon memories and family life that you can imagine. $125 at Newegg.com.

Happy weddings to you, and best wishes to all you newlyweds to be. More to come...
