Free/Open Source Alternatives to Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a great stats tracker, and it’s free. But the problem with GA is that you’re sharing all your data with Google and when you’re doing SEO or Adwords (and who isn’t?) you might want to keep that information to yourself. Here’s a roundup of tools you can use instead of GA: Piwik - Open Source analytics from the makers of OpenX. It’s still in its infancy and isn’t as pretty as some other options, but it has a lot of potential - I love ... Read Full Story

The majority of product owners who responded seemed to be saying something along the lines of “I understand how you feel, but I’ve tested it and long copy converts better.” But is the debate really about long vs short copy at all? Maybe the whole discussion is wrong because we’re asking the wrong question. Maybe the real ... Read Full Story

In all three cases, they were targeting the same two keyphrases. I haven’t done any promotion of any of them yet, so I expected them all to have pretty much the same (low) traffic from a few long tail searches. The results I actually got were quite surprising: Squidoo: 7 visits to one lens, 2 to the other, for a total of 9 Hubpages: ... Read Full Story
