Social vs show dancing
The BBC featured the first of the Brucie Goes Dancing series today where Strictly Come Dancing’s Bruce Forsyth goes after how different forms of dances had evolved. It included an interview with the great Frankie Manning himself. Obviously, the series was filmed before the legendary dancer’s death in April 2009. Read Full Story
Abandoned… not anymore!
It is appalling that my last post was back in February. Talk about a long hiatus! Actually, the amount of time I’ve left this blog unattended was about the same amount of time that I stayed away from the dance floor, any dance floor. I am hoping to turn that around now so come back again soon! Read Full Story
It’s been quiet
Indeed, I plead guilty to neglect. I have placed this blog on involuntary hiatus. Didn’t really mean to. But as the warm weather looms, the sun will surely bring some inspiration. Check back soon! Read Full Story
Shutter-happy with the Nokia Tube
Sideways
In continuation of sharing thoughts on the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music, here’s a photo I took using the phone’s camera. I reckon it’s pretty impressive for a cameraphone. What do you think? Read Full Story
Learning from the men
Let’s face it, women and sports are not a natural mix. Sure there are women who excel in different areas of sports but historically it is men’s domain. This is perhaps one of the reasons why women — in general — do not like watching sports, too, or find it as a topic when they lunch together. In my twisted mind, I believe there is great value in getting passionate about sports mainly for the fact that sports foster team building, which to be frank, women are not also g... Read Full Story
Not when he’s already gone
It was sad to hear about the passing of Francis Magalona, possibly the pioneer of rap in the Philippines. He died last 06 March 2009 of acute myelogenous leukemia. A great loss indeed to the entertainment industry in the Philippines. While everyone who knows FrancisM (or know of him) agrees that he is extremely talented, I find it bizarre and superficial that there are people who are suddenly nominating him to be granted the status of National Artist. There is even a Facebook group created fo... Read Full Story
Suggestion for better customer service
I accidentally dropped my new Nokia 5800 and it damaged the screen, leaving it without a main display. I was truly annoyed and upset by this (needless to say since I was really excited about that phone). When I phoned Vodafone Customer Services, they gladly informed me that it would be covered by my insurance and that I simply need to go to any Vodafone shop to have it checked and replaced. My interpretation of this was that when I go to the shop, someone will check the damaged phone and can ... Read Full Story
Update on the Nokia (5800) Tube
Been almost 2 weeks since my first post on the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music. As I said there, I will continually share my experiences of the good and the bad of this quite amazing gadget. For this post, I’m afraid it’s one for the bad. Battery If your battery is running low, i.e. it is on its last bar… do not, I repeat, DO NOT switch the phone off thinking that this will save you some juice. When you try to switch it back again, without having to re-charge just yet, the Nokia 580... Read Full Story
Missed opportunity
This weekend, Pablo Veron — renowed dancer, appeared in the film, The Tango Lesson by Sally Potter — conducted a series of tango workshops here in London. I was supposed to go but my laziness got the better of me that I forgot to pay the booking. My bad, my bad, my bad. Oh well, I hope there will be another opportunity. Read Full Story
