Shoreline HP have said that they will continue to follow government policy in the setting of rents, which means that rents will rise by an average of 6.1% in April 2012, which is directly in line with other housing associations operating locally as well as those councils who still own their own housing.
More than 74% of Shoreline tenants are receiving Housing Benefit which should match the rent rise, although this depends on individual circumstance.

Humberside Fire & Rescue Service is issuing a safety warning about carbon monoxide following a number of enquiries from the public.
Firefighters visiting people’s homes as part of the organisation’s community safety programme are increasingly being asked whether the smoke detectors they fit also double up as carbon monoxide detectors.

A criminal gang has been jailed for one of the biggest ever alcohol smuggling frauds ever uncovered in the UK.
The gang managed a warehouse to import and export alcohol without paying any taxes. They bought household branded beer, wine and spirits from bonded warehouses in France and imported it duty free into the UK.
Once the alcohol was safely through customs it was illegally diverted to locations around the UK where it was sold on without duty being added.

Rharian Fields, North East Lincolnshire’s first dedicated eating disorder facility will officially open at the end of this month during Eating Disorder Awareness Week.
Kevin Bond, chief executive of NAViGO Health and Social Care Community Interest Company who will be providing services at Rharian Fields, will declare the new unit open on Friday, February 24.

It looks as though the cheque may be saved by the introduction of new technology.
A team of academics has developed an electrical cheque which looks the same as the traditional cheque, but uses a digital pen.
The account holder writes out the cheque in the same way as normal, but uses a digital pen which ‘reads’ the cheque as it is written. Detectives investigating the death of a man in Cleethorpes are appealing for anyone with information to come forward in order to establish exactly what happened.
The 48-year-old Cleethorpes man was found laying on the driveway outside an address on Princes Road in Cleethorpes just before 5.20pm on Saturday 11 February 11, 2012 having suffered serious internal and head injuries.
