Today, I received a catalog in the mail from a company called "The Country House." It's a neat catalog filled with decorative, country-themed articles for your home. I marked quite a few items that I might order. One item I particularly liked was a simple sign that reads "Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart." The sign really resonates with me. I have written many posts on this blog about my desire to make sure I am grateful for all of the blessings in my life. I am not all that vocal with my... Read Full Story

It's Monday, July 26, 2010. I don't have a perfect life. I am not as thin as I wish I was. I missed out on a lot of normal adult things by staying in a bad marriage for a very long time. I don't have the most interesting job. So what? Today, on Monday, July 26, 2010 I am incredibly grateful. I have a beautiful, healthy, happy 15 year old son. A job that pays my bills, and good health myself. I have a dog that I love. I live in a comfortable house. My parents have good health. I have the world... Read Full Story

I really like the idea of blogging. So much so, that I started this blog, and a couple of other blogs. I was envious of some of the great women and mommy bloggers out there, whose blogs I visit daily. Women like NieNie , and cjane and Laura , and Ree . I want to be just like them. However, after a few failed years at sustaining an interesting blog, I realize I am not like those women at all. Why not? Because I am hugely boring! There's nothing interesting about my life to report on or write... Read Full Story

It's Earth Day tomorrow, and I want to do my part. One small thing I try to do continually, is limit the amount of plastic grocery bags I use. Reusable grocery bags are a fantastic way to avoid the plastic. My only problem -- I forget to take the reusable bags with me to the store, or I forget them in my car. Recently, while shopping, I noticed that few people seemed to have the reusable bags with them. While I was watching the checkout lines, I estimated that over 95% of the shoppers were... This card is for the Splitcoast Clean and Simple Challenge. The challenge was to make a green and brown card with white or cream for the neutral. I also needed a thank you card to send to a friend, so I challenged myself to make something I new my friend would like. I do think she'll like it! Here's the recipe: Paper: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive (I think, or maybe it's Garden Green?),Very Vanilla Ink: chocolate chip, old olive Stamps: trendy trees & flight of the butterfly Ribbon: 5/8... Recently, I was talking to a friend about careers and how we ended up with the careers that we have. If you asked me what I wanted to be when I was 15, I would have said that I wanted to be an archaeologist. When I was 18, I decided to become a nurse. After a bit of a college nursing program, I decided I was interested in psychology and family studies. After graduating from college, the first "good" job I could find was in the insurance industry. After 17 years in the insurance industry, I... Read Full Story

March is my most hated, and my most favorite month of the year. In Connecticut, March means one more month of winter, and we have had more winter than we can take this season. But, March is also the month when Daylight Savings Time begins, and when we welcome Spring. March is a long month too, which comes right after nice, short February. It's the month that drags on forever while we dream of April and the "real" start of Spring. Since we can't get to nice April without March, I say to you... Read Full Story

Each day, when I wake up in the morning, I start my day by reviewing a list of things for which I am grateful. I am grateful for many things, and my list is long. I have to give myself a few extra minutes in the morning, so I can go through the whole list. After I run through the list, I feel energized and ready to meet the challenges of the day. When I am having a particularly bad or unhappy day, I read the list a second time. Reading and re-reading my "grateful list" always clears my head... Read Full Story
