By George, These Are Fine Hotels!

I know plenty of women of a certain age who would love to bump into George Clooney … and I might be able to offer some assistance.

Thanks to our friends at the excellent magazine Conde Nast Traveller, I have a steer on two of his favourite luxury hotels in Italy. Clooney favours the Hassler near the Spanish Steps in Rome and the Cipriani in Venice. “I’ve been to the Venice Film Festival five or six times and I love it. Taking a boat to the premiere is a fun way to go,” he said. Both these fine hotels are, of course, available through Luxique.

Clooney is a true Italophile and has a villa on Lake Como. He was asked by writer Jeremy Hart if there was one Italian tradition that he’d like to bring to California. “Dinner. You’ll see people in Italy walking home from a long day at work with a bottle of wine and a loaf of bread and they’ll have a two-hour dinner and sit and talk with their family and friends. That tradition has long since left the United States.”
