Canada’s soldier, whitling thinks he deserves charter rights, but not Steyn or Levant who are in Canada!

Gets graphic below, you’re warned.

“This is a case which involves a Canadian citizen, it is unusual, and it has an international character. Canadian counsel play a critical role in the fairness of those proceedings,” he said.

“The reality is that everyone in Canada recognizes that a person accused of a criminal offence has a right to a defence.”

In court documents filed in Edmonton last week, Whitling wrote that maximum penalty of life imprisonment his client faces constitutes a deprivation of his liberty and security under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

LOL so now the Canadian Charter Of Rights pertains to people laying mines against the liberal Ban [funny they are so quiet about that] in foreign countries, it’s hard to imagine the charter of rights having any jurisdiction. If the charter has jurisdiction there should Muslims who commit crimes here have body parts lopped off here?

Where does this dopey lawyer think it’s written in the charter of rights that it applies to thugs in Afghanistan. Senator Romeo Dallaire who could care less about his own soldiers might believe it.

The latest image follows a November broadcast by CBS’ 60 Minutes of portions of a prosecution video that ostensibly shows Khadr learning to assemble and plant explosive devices.

The video was found in the rubble of the destroyed compound after the 2002 assault. Pentagon spokesmen at the time denied it was leaked by the Office of Military Commissions.

I don’t have that video but I have this,

omar_khadr.jpg

Khadr is accused of throwing a grenade in July 2002 — when he was 15 — that killed U.S. 1st Class Sgt. Christopher Speer and injured Sgt. Layne Morris in Khost, Afghanistan. Khadr’s father was Ahmed Said Khadr, an associate of Osama bin Laden and a reputed Canadian Al Qaeda financier. He was killed in October 2003 by Pakistani forces. One of Omar Khadr’s older brothers, Abdullah Khadr, is in jail in Toronto, fighting a U.S. extradition request for terrorism-related crimes.
