What I’ll Watch When I Get Home
Well, we are leaving the cottage to go home in the morning, and although we’ve had a wonderful week, I’m ready to go home. I’m pretty excited about seeing all the shows I DVR’d for one thing. Oh, and I miss my puppies, too. The weather has been perfect all week, but its a little rainy today. Although, it is really warm. Since I had a few minutes before we go to dinner, though, I thought I’d try to get together a list of shows I plan on watching next week. Along, of course, with all those... Read Full Story
On Holiday
Sorry you haven’t heard from me all week. I’m on vacation at the beach and honestly, I’ve been a bit busy doing absolutely nothing while I get a tan. No we’ve really been kind of busy this year. See, my entire family - like a dozen plus of us - rents this cottage at the beach every year for a week. Mostly, we sit on the beach or play in the water, and then we eat. A lot. Its like deciding that you’re just gonna gain as much weight as possible in one week. You’d be surprised how much you can... Read Full Story
CBS Sitcoms
On CBS, there are a few returning sitcoms and two new ones. One new comedy is Gary Unmarried, which premieres on Wednesday, September 24 at 8:30 pm ET.  The show stars Jay Mohr and Paula Marshall.  Gary Barnes is a recently single painting contractor, who, after 15 years of marriage to his controlling wife, Allison, now faces post-divorce life as they each embark on new relationships and share custody of their two children, played by Laura Marano and Ryan Malgarini. Worst Week premieres on... Read Full Story
Sitcoms on NBC
My research hit a little snag with NBC in that their website made it a little hard to find a page for each show that just had words I could read. Everything was a video, which might work great in some cases, but for me it doesn’t. I want things all written out, like what the show is about, who’s in it, and when it airs. Plus, I’m doing this while my husband watches TV next to me, so I often have to turn the sound off. Although, there was an interesting looking vid with Zach Levi of Chuck... Read Full Story
No Reservations
I just saw that movie, No Reservations. It was on HBO On Demand, and I was looking forward to it. (I usually look ahead, just to see what’s coming so I don’t miss something I want to see.) From the trailers, it looked like a good romantic comedy. I expected some light fluffy fun. Instead, I was bored and a little depressed. Honestly, there was no chemistry between the leads at all, and the movie had little, if anything, that was funny about it. Catherine Zeta Jones is beautiful, but her... Read Full Story
ABC and Sitcoms
Continuing on with my what’s new, sitcom-wise, for Fall, we come to ABC. (What does that stand for anyway? American Broadcasting Company?) In any case, guess how many sitcoms, new and old, ABC has on their Fall schedule. One. Yes, that’s right, only one. It’s a returning sitcom, too, Samantha Who, which airs Monday nights at 9:30 pm. Apparently, they are so afraid of what happened last year that they aren’t even going to propose anything new this year. I’m guessing they feel that they... Read Full Story
What Else From FOX?
As I mentioned before, FOX also has two new cartoon comedies airing this year,  these are The Cleveland Show and Sit Down, Shut Up.  I don’t really think of cartoons as adult entertainment, even after 20 years of The Simpsons, so I’m not going to discuss these more than just telling you they exist. All but one of the remaining comedies on FOX are also cartoon comedies, Family Guy, King of the Hill, and The Simpsons. The only returning sitcom is Til Death.  For some reason, I never could get... Goodbye, Bernie Mac
By now you’ve probably all heard about Bernie Mac dying on Saturday morning, August 9, 2008. He was only 50 years old. I was reading lots of articles about it that day, and I just couldn’t help thinking, wow, I’m almost 45. Someone dying at 50 seems very wrong. From what I read, Bernie died from complications with pneumonia. Most people do not die from pneumonia, but apparently Bernie had a pre-existing condition called sarcoidosis, a term which anyone who watches House will have heard... Read Full Story
Surf the Channel
My friend, Laura (she has two blogs - Chris Daughtry fan and Movie Review Report), told me about another site, similar to hulu.com. It’s surfthechannel.com, and I decided to go check it out. It’s a great site. Its not exactly the same as hulu, because it appears that the television programs and movies on the site are actually loaded elsewhere, but link back to the site. So there’s and upside and a downside. The downside is that you have to go through a couple of links to get to the show... Read Full Story
Outnumbered
The only other new sitcom from FOX this year is Outnumbered, written and executive-produced by Larry Levin. (There are actually two cartoon comedies on the FOX line up, but I don’t count cartoons as actual shows. Sorry, but that’s just the way it is.) Outnumbered is a family sitcom, which is described as a “a fresh and hilarious approach” to the sitcom. The description on the FOX site mentions both Curb Your Enthusiasm and Malcolm in the Middle, as similar shows for one reason or another... Read Full Story
