Here are some inviolable rules that people should know:
Never start a land war in Asia Minor. If you’ve played Risk you know why. Obviously, Bush, Congress, and their lackeys never played Risk.
Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line. With apologies to Vizzini…
Crusaders shouldn’t sin. They always get caught.
Somehow I take more pleasure in the scandals when it’s wide stance Senators in men’s rooms, sacrosanct family-first Senator’s visiting prostitutes, or Florida... Read Full Story

People are making all sorts of claims about energy efficient lighting, I’m one of them, having systematically inventoried, evaluated, and replaced incandescent lighting with compact fluorescent lamps in June, 2007. In fact, one of the most popular entries ever to appear in this blog was titled “Want to get $3,500?” which talks about the inventory, method, and expected savings of replacing standard lighting with energy efficient lighting. With seven months of data available, I thought it was... Read Full Story

Former Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney
Mitt Romney has decided to leave the campaign trail after losing 2/3 of the Super Tuesday states and seeing John McCain vault into the position of front-runner. Thus the “I’m more conservative than you” discussion can end, because it’s clear that with Huckabee and McCain who has that crown. Good luck Mr. Romney, and next time, don’t market with foam ‘mitts’, it was cheesy and ineffective.
That leaves McCain, Huckabee, and Paul in on the Republican... Read Full Story

And then there were seven. Yesterday Rudy pulled the plug on his campaign after his Custer stand in Florida failed. We now can say that this race isn’t about 9/11. This isn’t surprising as the race has really now shaped up to be McCain vs. Romney on the Republican side and Obama vs. Clinton. Who knows what Rudy will do now, but my guess is it involves TV where he’ll be able to drop “9/11″ into conversations liberally…Still alive, on the Republican side: John McCain, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee... Due to travel, I wasn’t able to comment on this until now.
Former Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich
After anemic showings in the early primaries Dennis Kucinich has ended his bid for the White House. Instead, the former candidate will focus on his reelection campaign to the US House of Representatives. This marks the withdrawl of one of the more interesting characters in the campaign who may, in fact, represent the people’s view point more accurately than the remaining candidates on... Have you ever wondered what to do with those energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs when they burn out? One shouldn’t just toss them into the garbage due to the small amount of mercury (~5mg) in each bulb yet it’s not really apparent what to do with them. Presently, there are a number of pilot programs that collect and hopefully recycle the bulbs, but a sustainable and clear recycling stream has really yet to emerge.
One has to wonder if this is a business opportunity? The Wall... Read Full Story

CNN reports today that Fred Thompson, Republican candidate for President has ended his candidacy. Thompson a former Senator from Tennessee and actor wasn’t able to close the gap on McCain and Romney in South Carolina placing a distant third place in the primary. The general view is, if a “son of the South” can’t compete in South Carolina, he is not a viable candidate. Back to the television studios for you Mr. Thompson. On the bright side for him, the pay is better.
Former Candidate Fred... Read Full Story

Yesterday the American Kennel Club released the Top Ten Breeds list and it confirmed what I’ve known since 2001, that the Labrador Retriever is the top dog! The Bulldog is new from last year and the other breeds aren’t much of a surprise (except Shi Tzu - at least to me.)
Well, apparently the AKC is smarter than I am because the... Read Full Story

Former Presidential Candidate Bill Richardson
I started the Deadpool 2008 earlier this month focusing on the candidates who drop out vs. the front-runners. Today, CNN is reporting that Bill Richardson is dropping his bid for the nomination after distant 4th place finishes in Iowa and New Hampshire. I definitely understand why these candidates are dropping out, but if we stop to consider that less than 0.5% of the electorate has spoken, I can’t help but wonder if it’s too early to make the...
