Valentine’s Day is coming up quickly and for some people, sweethearts do not only stand on two legs. Some stand on four.
While gift-giving from person to person is popular, so is treating that special pet who is as loyal a companion as anyone.
Unfortunately, the ASPCA reports that every year their poison control center sees an increase in cases around Valentine’s Day – a time that is supposed to be about love and appreciation.
While it may seem harmless at the time, leaving candy... Read Full Story

A garden heater can be a great idea if you’ve been wanting to spend more time in your garden. When she was selected from her littermates, she was only two weeks old, and her little eyes were still closed. Over the course of the next six weeks, she was most likely dropped by one of the children at the daycare where her litter was raised.
The day I went to pick her up she hid... Read Full Story

Late last year, a pretty ginger (light brown fur, to be exact) seal was abandoned by her shiny black seal family on Tyuleniy Island in Russia. This little female seal has light blue eyes and golden-brown fur, which has caused the colony to ostracize the animal for her unusual coloring.
Photographer Anatoly Strakhov discovered this lonely seal on a cold beach hiding beneath a pile of logs while waiting for her mother to provide food. The photographer was happy to have located such a unique... Read Full Story

As you may or may not be aware, the nutritional needs of your pets change over the course of their lifetime, just as the nutritional needs of people change when they transition from childhood to adulthood and even into their twilight years. And if you’ve never really considered how one pet food is different from another, you could... Read Full Story

You know the feeling: The panic, anger or embarrassment of your dog’s sudden dramatic change of temperament. Maybe he lunges and barks at a passerby while out on a walk. He runs and nips at your guest’s leg after two hours of calmly laying by your feet. Or perhaps he randomly tears up your couch pillows when you’re at work. But of course (and this is the key) he doesn’t do it all the time. How the heck do you stop something like THAT?
First, it’s important to understand that... Read Full Story

When it comes time to take your dog, cat, or parakeet to the vet, the park, or even with you on a road trip, you may be concerned about how they will fare in the back of your vehicle. Will your pet be comfortable, or will he be crunched up on the floor or unceremoniously tossed around the cabin? Could he find a way to hide under the seats? How hard is it to remove any messes he might make? And what about safety? Are there features to keep your Spot or Mr. Bigglesworth from experiencing... Read Full Story

You haven’t killed the houseplants (yet). And neither one of you is ready for a baby (yet). So how do you know if you and your partner ready to add a new member to your family, whether they’re furry, feathered, or fanged?
