In my opinion, one of the most challenging disorders of the shoulder to properly diagnose during the early stages is adhesive capsulitis, or frozen shoulder. Let me explain that further – once a person has global tightness and loss of motion, this is a pretty easy diagnosis. But I often wonder if some of our patients with “shoulder pain” but not loss of motion may actually have stage one irritation of the capsule that could develop into adhesive capsulitis.
