Trade in that old car

I really don’t understand why the government keeps insisting that we should trade in our ten year old cars. I think they want us to be in debt up to our eyeballs. Sure the newer cars may be better for the environment but who wants to add to their debt. I drive a car that is 16 years old it gets 36 miles to a gallon, why would I want to turn that in? It is paid off and still pretty cute. I don’t want to buy a car that costs more than my sister’s house cost in 1980. And then have to pay for full coverage insurance to boot.
