Puerto Rican Carlos Quintana won the WBO Welterweight title by unanimous decision over Defending Champion Paul Williams in Temecula, California, and broadcast on HBO Saturday Night. Dale Earnhardt Jr. in his first race with Hendrick Motor Sports won the Budweiser Shootout Saturday Night at the Daytona Motor Speedway. Junior took the lead early on in the first segment of the race before yielding to Tony Stewart. He then took the lead back with a few laps left and held on to win.
