In a recent post titled Confessions of a footballholic I talked about how my love for football is growing but not necessarily fantasy football. As this season has unfolded thus far, that fact is more true all the time for me for some reason, and it has nothing to do with how my team performs.I'm currently sitting in fourth place out of a 10 team league and would be doing better if I was paying more attention to it.One week, when I played against my cousin, we decided to only start our kickers... For my podcast (found on the right) I've started what we call the Drama Queen of the Week Award and I must say, this was a tough week, but in a good way. This past week provided a lot to choose from.
I could have gone with Brandon "I'll Spikes your eyes out". Ashley Lambert of the New Mexico soccer team (see the video if you haven't already) would have been an easy one to with as well. Even though I'm a Cowboys fan, I strongly considered Roy Williams for saying he has to work harder to make... Read Full Story

Baseball is America's Pastime. Football is America's Game. Let us keep it that way. If two Rugby teams came over from England to play a game on American soil, I couldn't be any less interested and don't think most Americans would either. I'll be honest, I don't know jack squat about rugby because I've never cared to learn. What makes Roger Goodell think playing all these games in London would be good for the NFL?When asked about playing a Super Bowl in London, the commissioner said not until... Read Full Story

Do you ever wonder what life would be like if even one little decision was made differently? What would life be like right now if_______? (Fill in the blank)Yeah, I do that all the time. Sometimes I sit in lie in bed at night wondering how many Super Bowl rings the Cowboys would have if Jerry Jones hadn't fired Jimmy Johnson. What if Jackie Smith had of held on to the ball. It's not all bad though. I'm very thankful for the fact the Cowboys traded Herschel Walker to Minnesota. Man, Walker dese... Read Full Story

That's very likely the song the Redskins will be singing if they give their third team its first win of the season. The Lions and Panthers each have one win and the Chiefs are looking for their first. The Jim Zorn job watch is officially on right now.Man, what a weekend we have in football. The 'Boys are off but there area still plenty of great games, including the Red River Shootout between Texas and Oklahoma. That heated rivalry is as hot as ever, especially since the Longhorns were clearly... Read Full Story

Alright, I have a confession to make: my love for the game of football is only increasing as time moves along. I can't get enough of it.I cover high school football games on Friday nights and even that I enjoy. Then there's Saturday morning. Remember when you were a kid and you'd wake up early to watch cartoons? Yeah, I remember those days too and they're long gone. Now, there's nothing like waking up to the smell of coffee and the sounds of College Game Day. If I have nothing to attend to tha... Alright, no beating around the bush here. What the heck were the Seahaws wearing? It looks like a green lime shirt on top of a dark green shirt. Other than that, I can think of a single word to describe how ugly those things are.At least they weren't wearing those in the same game where the refs wore their throwback uniforms. Those things look like something from Whataburger. During that Monday night game, I referred to them as the "Whatarefs".Congratulations are in order for the Detroit Lion... Read Full Story

It's about time I get caught up with everything in the sports world, and well, life in general (as if there's anything in life outside of sports). I just moved to Baytown, Texas to start my new job where I write for the Baytown Sun. You can catch up on the podcast but that's enough about me, let's catch up.Week one of the NFL, Romo set a career high of 350 passing yards and hit three different receivers for a touchdown.Week two of the NFL, Romo threw three interceptions. He was off and it's w... Read Full Story

I'm looking for input for my new podcast show. I want to have it playing on a consistent time of the week, say late morning/early afternoon on Saturdays. I also want a bit we can use fairly consistently. For years, Mike and Mike had the Just Shut Up Award which and Dan Patrick has the bell for callers as they "weigh in" on a particular subject. One of the things I'm considering is having the "Drama Queen of the Week Award". It might be a little similar to the Just shut Up award but with a tad ... Read Full Story

When is it acceptable and unacceptable to say "we" when referring to your team as a fan? Obviously the fans aren't hitting pitches coming at us 95 mph. We're not the one's standing in the pocket trying to decide where the blitz is coming from and trying to remember who's running what route and we're certainly not getting paid $1oo million. That's my point exactly though. There's not nearly as much loyalty on the part of players and coaches and more. Whatever happened to people like Bill Bates.... Read Full Story
