Never Back Down (1.5/4 Stars)

The director did some good camera work, and choreographed some cool looking fight scenes. For some reason though, those didn't even catch my eye. The story was dull, and extremely predictable. One cool character I guess, the comic relief go-to man. Other than that, this movie is a confused karate kid full of loud shitty music and a couple of dead acting careers. Djimon Hounsou had a moment or two. When he was kickin' ass in the gym. Overall, definetly not worth checking out. Go watch Karate K... Read Full Story
In the Company of Men (0.5/4 Stars)

Neil LaBute is educated and refined, but you'd never know that from watching this film. It is pure evil and filth, an exercise in brutality. Even though LaBute has fared pretty well in his career (with the exception of an occasional bomb), thankfully he has never made as terrible of a film as this one again. Read Full Story
Dance, Girl, Dance (3/4 Stars)

One of Dorothy Arzner's most renowned and commercial films, Dance Girl Dance is a story about a girl who dances for money and a girl who dances for the sake of art. The girl who dances for money has no morals and practically spits in the other girls' faces. It's pretty entertaining, and it's old fashioned, but it's supposed to be. Read Full Story

A masterful piece written and directed by Lawrence Kasdan. Right after Paris Hilton's prison sentence, she claimed she was going to go to Rwanda to volunteer. That never happened. A character in this movie undergoes a similar revelation, only to completely forget about his promise months later. Kasdan knew about the way people thought and how they were motivated. There is a funny/scary scene, where a father is teaching his son how to drive in trafficky L.A. Recommended for all. Read Full Story

Even though I like Jeff Bridges, the only thing that stood out about this film was Michelle Pfeiffer's performance. While I am surprised she was nominated for an Academy Award for this film, it is probably well-deserved. The show-stopping numbers were great. Read Full Story
Les Créatures (3/4 Stars)

Really great, rare, and unusual film from Agnes Varda. From 1966, this film definitely isn't screened enough. It is a story about Michel Piccoli and his wife (played by Catherine Deneuve). She has been rendered mute after an accident. They move to a new town where the residents are suspicious of them about everything. It's intriguing and I highly recommend it. Read Full Story

I thought this movie might be too racist for me to enjoy. But, although it certainly did have racist components to it, it was actually kind of an anti-racist movie as well. And, it had a good plot. But, of course it did, it's a Lon Chaney movie, afterall! Read Full Story
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (3/4 Stars)
From:  filmcrave.com
I was a little bit hesitant about seeing another Ice Age movie because over the years it's very rare a third installment has anything new to offer. But surprisingly enough this one did. And bringing that old humor back is probably the best thing that ever happened to this movie. The comedy is light at the beginning and then it becomes totally intense and then becomes light again towards the end. So what I’m saying is they totally balanced it out. I’m also glad that Syd wasn’... Read Full Story

The Little Motor-Car is a charming story of an older man whose crippled friend receives a motor-powered car to help him get around. Partially out of jealousy, and somewhat needing a break for his own frail legs, he decides he wants a little motor-car for himself. Ferreri marvelously directs this picture as no one else could. Almodóvar aficionados may notice that Yolanda is played by none other than Chus Lampreave who has appeared in Volver and Hable con ella, among many other of his films. No... Read Full Story
Entre ses Mains (3/4 Stars)

In this Hitcockian thriller, Isabelle Carre plays a mother of a five year old girl. She works as an insurance adjuster and meets a client that seems a bit off kilter. She fears he may be the killer on the loose, but says or does nothing. She even takes him to pick up her daughter from dance class. It seems she is only paranoid, because the man seems harmless enough. But when she rejects his advances, and he doesn't back down, trouble ensues. I love Anne Fontaine's style and her great dialogue.
