Where the hell have I been?
Regular readers may have noticed recently I haven’t been writing regularly. You may be wondering what’s going on! Or maybe not. But I’ll tell you anyways.
For the past month, I’ve been getting accustomed to my new job! I was hired on Sept. 21 at Neighborhood Media, a company that runs online-only hyper-local news publications. I am fully responsible for all of the content on two of the sites: InstantnewsWestU.com and InstantnewsBellaire.com. I’ve been getting accustomed to my new beat and trying to figure out the best time management strategies to get out all the stories that are waiting to be written. I haven’t quite figured out how to do all that within an 8-hour work day, and that’s why I haven’t been writing for News Videographer. By the time I get done with work work, I’m exhausted and only good for having a beer and spending time with my fiancee.
Here’s the most awesome things about my new job: I’m now a TRUE multimedia journalist. On any given day, I will write a story, take pictures, produce videos, or create maps to illustrate stories. I’m learning a lot of new skills dealing with beat reporting and developing sources.
Another cool thing is I have a company car that I lovingly refer to as my “crazy car” or the “Newsmobile.” It’s a fun time.
