Other Group C/GTP at Le Mans 24 Hours Photos
The support race at next year’s Le Mans 24 Hours (12-13 June 2010) will be for cars from the Group C era – hence the crowds will see such icons as the Silk Cut Jaguars, Sauber Mercedes and Porsche 962s in flat-out competition on the fabulous, 8.5-mile Le Mans circuit, shortly before the start of the 24 Hours.

The first competition section has run and, with no parc fermé tonight, some of the competitors are back and have work to do on their cars. South Australian Porsche crew Kevin Weeks and Bec Crunkhorn cruised home to win their third straight Classic Adelaide tarmac rally today.
The pair crossed the finish line after an almost trouble-free run over four days of competition, needing only to adjust the speed of their 1974 Porsche 911RS to keep comfortably ahead of the opposition. They won by almost one minute and 40 seconds.

The big event last night was the Welcome Party on the lawn of the Whitesands Sarova Lodge Hotel. The formalities of the last few days are now finished. At the Driver's briefing this evening, the event director, Surinder Thatthi, read out a short list of five competitors whose only lack was the completion of their service vehicle documents.

2 Victorian competitors in the Classic Adelaide tarmac rally were killed in a crash on the South Australian event today.
They were driver Gary Tierney, 60, and co-driver David Carra, 43, both from Melbourne.
Their 1974 Porsche 911RS skidded off a right-hand bend and struck a tree on Norsworthy Road, Forreston, about 40 kilometres north-east of Adelaide.
The crash happened on Special Stage 6, a 7.24 km test called Kersbrook Reverse, on day one of four on the 13th annual rally.
