There is no band/artist that I revered more at the beginning of the decade that i'm sort of meh about at the end. It's not really Jack White's fault--the music didn't change much. Meg White's basic primitive drumming kind of wears on me as does the lack of a bass player. But i'd argue the White Stripes hit their artistic peak on White Blood Cells. Read Full Story

Some might argue that the Strokes saved American rock music circa 2001. Pavement had broke up. Wilco got booted from their label (only to be resigned by another subsidiary owned by the same parent label). Radiohead had given up power chords for atmosphere. Jack White was still under the radar.
