While I used to do a fair amount of internet shopping when I lived in the states, I definitely do a lot more of it since moving to the Caribbean. Since we maintain a US bank account I am able to shop and ship to the US with no problems. This allows me to take advantage of all the great Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales and specials, while also having the satisfaction of buying presents for my granddaughter Karmyn! Read Full Story

If there is one thing I will take away from my time working at Parrot Cay, it will be an even more honed appreciation for the finer things in life. When you work hard in the service industry it becomes even more important to be as comfortable as possible at home. Guests often ask me where to go on Providenciales to buy gifts for their friends and family at home and I must admit that I am often at a loss as to where to send them. We have two nice boutiques on Parrot Cay, one at the hotel and one at the spa, but what we do not sell here are cigars, including Cuban and Padron cigars , or duty free liquor and jewelry, all of which can be purchased at the Providenciales International airport or along Grace Bay. While we have some fabulous salons and stylists in Turks and Caicos, there is quite a dearth of great hair products. So I have my shampoos and conditioners sent from the US, and now my big issue is that there is no peroxide over 15 volume on island for me to bleach my hair (I use 30 or 20 volume).
