East London Street Art

A lot of the paintings are humorous, often ridiculing the police or current affairs and politics.  This is a trate of Banksy and you can see an example of his work below.    Don’t get me wrong, I am a big Banksy fan but sometimes he can be talked about a little too much.  So for that reason, it’s good to see so many other artists staking there claim on the fine buildings of east London.

One of my favourite designs is by artist called Eine who is best known for his single letters which are spray-painted in bold colours on the closed shutters of various shops.  I think they look great.  We have two right by our flat on Roman Road.  Before they were painted the shutters used to look really old and tatty and were often covered in bad graffiti; so I welcome it!  Other examples of Eine’s letters can be seen on Bethnal Green Road, Hackney Road, Shoreditch High Street.
